The price of any good should be set as high as you are willing to pay. In practice, price is limited by the large number of gasoline refiners and vendors. Since you're still willing to pay, I don't see a problem. If someone chose to live in a rural area, then they chose to live with the consequences of that decision. Why is it the fault of an engineer at Valero that some guy decided to drive a monster truck while living 100 miles from anywhere? It's sickening to see the extent of entitlement which is felt by people in the US who have no idea about the pains taken to produce the product they demand for virtually nothing. So price fixing is OK as long as the product is a luxury?
Never mind anyone who lives in a rural area where driving is the only realistic option to get to work.
