Wow...I just checked the gasbuddy site. We're still hanging at or near $4/gallon at the cheaper stations. The more expensive stations are well over $4.50.

I don't expect this to last. Prices will zoom up quickly.

Damn. I had no idea sales were half or more today as they were fifteen years ago. It's a shock anyone in oil is still in business. :sneaky:

For the refiners it sucks actually. The cost of any screw-ups is basically doubled to quadrupled in resource input prices. As has the competition doubled for the remaining sales. Their margins are probably on life support. Thats why one breaks every other day it seems. They're pushing it to the limit, and most of our refineries were aging going into this.

So thats it in a nutshell.

Was talking to my bro last night, he was wondering how crude oil price is dropping but refined oil price is rising. I said, 'cause big oil is run by a bunch of greedy fuckers.

Seriously if this isn't collusion or fraud then I don't know what is. I love capitalism and free enterprise but this is neither.

If you add in that they are subsidized with our tax payer money then the amount of unlubed anal probing we are getting is beyond USDA recommendations and far exceeds EPA standards.

gas buddy says LA is only around 4.15? seems about normal for that area ...

I'm surrounded by pumps ranging from $4.52 to $4.82. It jumped ~15 cents through the day yesterday and another 5 cents last night. I find it funny that it's moving so quickly that gas buddy is falling behind on recent data. When I looked it up last night, data from 2 hours ago was already 5 cents behind.

You can't be serious??? The iPhones bit was a joke, but the spending money on gas is definitely not helping the local economy.

Oh no, no collusion, no price gouging, nothing going on here you fucking puppets. Just pure, unadulterated RECORD profits quarters after quarters after quarters.

Take a look at the regulations Cali puts on refineries and then tell me it's all related to collusion. The companies are asking Cali regulators to let them bring in fuel from other states (which is not allowed by Cali regs) in order to get through the shortage. But, hey, keep on believing it's always the evil corporation's fault.

Everyone wants more regs, more regs, more regs, then when something happens and the regs are part of the problem, it's still the Corporations being greedy.

$4.79 at my cheap station today. Good thing I got gas before heading to SF tomorrow. Wouldn't be surprised if a handful are at $4.99 there or even $5.

You're actually DARING to drive into the city tomorrow? Do you have a death wish?

This is America, I can say whatever the fuck I want, even when I'm an entitled asshole. Do you drive to work? 'Cause I don't.
And I can call you out for being an idiot. It's a beautiful system. Yes, I drive my Prius to work every day. I will never complain about the price of gas because it's a decision I made to live where I live relative to places I need to go. In making that decision, I'm responsible for the consequences. I also know it's really damn hard to get oil out of the ground and turn it into gasoline. Whiny douchebags like you know dick about what is involved and complain that you pay all of $4/gal for a product that, to your knowledge, is produced as if by magic coming out of a hole in the ground. You wouldn't last ten minutes in an introductory petroleum engineering course, so you have very little with which to gauge the true value of the product. So, while you are more than welcome to say whatever you want, I would recommend taking a bit more care to avoid conflicting with reality.
