Just logged in to my 15 year old hotmail account and was able to get the 25gb. Once in, it says 7gb, but click on manage storage and there is a option to upgrade to 25gb for free.

does anyone know what limitation this will have? max file size? file type? bandwidth limit? would be useful to share large video files with friends, and dropbox's 2gb is weak.

My older hotmail was from 99 (I had another one from 97 but that one was lost) and had no problem claiming the 25 GB. The @live.com however is rather new, well whenever they started accepting @live.com registration (2008?) and it also received the option to upgrade to/maintain 25 GB free space.

It upgraded me to 25 GB. Not bad... but I like Dropbox because it works with both my iPad and my Android phone.

Max fiel size is 1gb through the application, and 300MB through the browser. Any file types, the name is literal, think of it as an external hardrive.

And to those that can't access it, it seems like you had to have used SkyDrive before to get the 25GB now. So if you have a hotmail account where you sent or received an office document, it should work.

Do you have anything stored on there? Doesn't look like in that shot. Or if you do, it's not even enough to register as a fraction of a gig.

Got skydrive to sync Onenote Android awhile ago, but no Android skydrive app kills everything else imho. I refuse to deal with the browser just to do anything else.
But it works well for onenote.
