You are not that important. Your call CAN wait until you are stopped. You cannot multi-task nearly as good as you think you can. You are not that important. You suck at drive and talking.

Unless its the commander calling for the launch codes, wait until you aren't endangering the lives of everyone around you to take the call.

You are not that important.

I agree that there are some people that cannot do both at the same time, but some can.

Those that cannot understand that if they're doing both, driving is the #1 priority over the phone call, not the other way around, then they need to not do it.

It's not that they are important, it's that they are special!

See!

It's like the person who says they can drive when they are drunk, except there's no excuse of impairment.

learn to use the fucking speaker, at the very least. I don't like having to turn on bluetooth everytime I jump in the car plus it sucks battery to high hell. Next best option is the speakerphone and it's a 1-touch button. USE IT. Even free phones have it.

On the subject of distraction, it's the same as talking to a passenger in the car so I don't get it. What is hindering is the 1-arm up to your ear where it impairs your peripheral vision to a large degree. Also you are less likely to even want to turn your head... not good.

Don't worry, I have the speakers blaring when i'm talking on my cell phones.

you mean you don't have them both connected to bluetooth where it automatically lowers your car speakers? Fail. Ghetto fail.

I like to yell over my gangster rap so the people I'm talking to know how much of a bad ass I am.

It has been proven to be worse.

No. I like to talk while I drive, sometimes I drive around with the phone up to my ear with nobody on the phone just because I know it pisses people like you off and that makes me smile

I do it pretty often, hell I've had 40+ min conversations on 95. I just switch over to the right lane and go slow, never even come close to an accident as a result. If I'm doing city driving, quite often I'll tell the person to hold on as I'm turning/switching lanes, etc.

Now there are some morons out there. Almost got killed by a soccer mom in an SUV who had the bright idea of switching into my exact spot (I was right next to her, not even in her blind spot), while on a cell-phone while looking in the opposite direction. Got a good view of the back of her head as I hit the breaks. Had a nice long vengeance honk after the fact.

Those who think they can just haven't run into a situation where their full attention was needed. Most of the time driving, you just drive without having to put too much effort into it but when something comes up, you better have you full attention ready to react.

This. Don't use the phone while driving, pull over if it is that important. It's not worth a life/lives to talk or text while driving.

Absolutely. I've been in numerous situations where if I wasn't absolutely paying attention undistracted, someone would have plowed right into me and I might not be here today.

Calling/Texting while driving needs to be totally banned across the US. Can allows hands free I guess but that's not a whole lot better.

I already made all the comments I am ever going to make about the spoiled, self-centered attitude of the average American, so I will stick to logistical issues.

While I think it should be illegal, I am already painfully aware of the fact most towns dont have enough police to enforce the current laws. I see all kinds of traffic violations going unchecked on a daily basis. Would it really matter much if they outlawed phone use while driving?

Except passengers can actually help the drivers because they can see what the driver sees unlike a phone convo (which also takes a hand away from the driver if they're not using a headset), for instance a talking passenger can know when to shut up (or even call attention to) and let the driver concentrate say if someone cuts them off without signaling.

Yeah, I've been witnessing more and more people obliviously of their surrounding b/c they're on their cellphones. They're an accident waiting to happen.

Good news in MA, texting while driving has been banned.

Bullshit. Those who think they can just haven't had a situation where they needed to react immediately but were paying attention to their phone. It's only a matter of time.

Think of it this way, you are driving along and every 5 seconds you shut your eyes for 2 seconds at a time. You might get away with this for a while but eventually something is going to happen during that 2 seconds that you aren't going to be ready to respond to because you had your eyes closed...or you were fiddling with your fucking cell phone.
