PSA - HOT!!! Frys.com Now Allows In Store Pickup For Online Purchases.

Confirmed ONLY for the Woodland Hills, Ca. Store. Fry's B&M's previously would not match their own online prices, but I would often cross check because sometimes, the local price for a specific item would be less than for the same item listed at a lower price after shipping.

Today, I phoned to check their local price for Iron Chef's HD thread for 2 x 1 GB Corsair PC3200 DDR RAM.

2GB PC3200 DDR Dual Channel Kit (2x1GB) Corsair Value Select VS2GBKIT400C3
Online price: $34.99 after $30.00 MIR
SKU: 4700789

Shipping to my zipcode would be $4.98, making the total around $40.

The in store price is $89.99 with the same $30 MIR. I mentioned the price difference to the sales woman, and she said I could order it online for in store pickup. I told her I was suprised because that is a change in their policy, which she confirmed had changed within the past few months.

She said I could order an item online for pickup at the Woodland Hills store at the online price with no shipping charge. It would be a good idea to check local stock before trying this to make sure you can get the items you want this way.

She could not confirm that this change was in effect at all B&M stores so YMMV until this is confirmed at all stores.

It started late last year in certain Northern California locations as far as I know, it only recently started in Southern California stores, and still not all of the Southern California stores as far as I can tell.

You're right. Having a local Fry's is NOT enough. Good thing I live half way between TWO of their B&M stores, each about 15 minutes from where I live.

Been doing it for a while with the Palo Alto Fry's.. it's only down the street from work so a quick trip during lunch or after work.

The craptacular thing is.. they won't pricematch with their Outpost.com prices.. so if you're in the store and want to PM it with something from their online store while you'tr already there, you're forced to buy it online and pick up in store.

Yep.. better deals now... Just picked up the Antec p180 Silver for $75 (store pickup, otherwise +$30 for shipping to CA)

I suppose this is a pretty good deal for those with a Fry's store nearby. What makes its not so hot is that their instore sale prices are far better than their online prices.

Most, if not all, of the Bay Area stores have offered this for a while now (I believe it's nearing a year), but the option hasn't been available on every product. Now if they'd only price match their online prices in the store, then they'd be making even more progress. At some point in time, the Fry's way of doing business will eventually make sense...to someone...lol

thank god my local frys is literally less than 10 minutes away...along with best buy and circuit city (too bad compusa closed down), with tigerdirect in 3 locations!!! mwahahahaha
