PSA: identity thieves don't just open credit cards

I sling cable/internet/phone for a living. I work in a call center for a large cable provider and its strictly incoming calls. I get at least 3 people a day who call in trying to set up cable in someone else's name.

Today I had a lady call in and she sounded like she was roughly 18 years old with a Hispanic accent. Ok..whatever. I ask her name and she says Eugene. Nice. But some people have weird voices and I can't judge. I run her/his/its credit and it comes back to a 78 year old guy. So just to make sure, I ask what year he/she/it was born. They say...and I quote, "I don't have that information on me." WHAT?

So this is my PSA of the day: People suck. People will steal anything they can. Thieves should not be allowed to live with the rest of society.
