I understand accidents happen, but some people play just to hurt people purposely.
Nothing pisses me off than when your playing a friendly game of turkey bowl, and some guy has to be the showoff from highschool football and he has to try to crush everyone he tackles...

I'm here to have fun and play ball, but I have a job to be at monday morning.
No backyard football game is worth a concussion or a blown knee or ankle... so next thursday... play the game without being a jackass...or dont even show up.

Cuz i wouldnt want you to end up like that guy in "the last boy scout"

yeap.

i go to a friends and play on the weekends sometimes. there is one guy that just has to relive his glory days of playing football in highschool. He always trys to hit people as hard as he can.

so whenever he comes we just stop playing. he is finally getting the hint.

He probably has a crappy job and no girlfriend, or some big inadequecy issues, so here's a venue where he can hurt other people to make him feel better about himself while hiding it under the guise of "the game".

Agreed. Tackling a friend solidly just to let him know you're there is one thing, but purposely trying to injure people--especially if it's someone you don't know--is just classless.

Don't be such a wuss, if you're not tough enough to play football it's you who should not show up. Football is man's game, when making a tackle you don't ask permission and you don't lay down a nice lace doily on the spot so that the target doesn't get dirty pants. You just make the tackle. If it hurts, too bad. Go crying to your mommy, maybe she can kiss your boo-boos.

And you quite clearly prove yourself to be the gym class zero. Newsflash skippy: When you get knocked down it hurts. That's the purpose of tackle football. If you can't handle it don't play the game. I'm sick to death of snot-nosed little crybabies who get tackled and lay there sniveling that it was an intentional attempt to injure. It's NOT! You hit the ground and it hurts, there's no dainty way to do it. If you can't handle it stay in the house and play canasta with your great aunts. Crying about how getting tackled hurts your precious little tushy just makes you look stupid.

depends on the hit

when i play street hockey, i get really pissed off if people try to hit me from behind into a wall while going for a puck

on a breakaway pass if a goalie comes out to hit me i could care less

its like the guys who do the flagrant high-sticking slapshots in traffic, your not getting that shot off, someone's gonna put a stick to block the shot at the contact point if you wind up that much

in football, don't hit someone while their in the air and show some restraint on buttonhooks or other throws where the receiver probably isn't aware of you

Hit a little close to home there, eh Gaggy?

Tackling never tickles, but you don't have to grind people into the turf in backyard football. There's a big difference.

Theres a hit and then there's a hit. When you're playing friendly backyard ball you should know the difference. You don't seem to so go hang out with the rest of your toothless buddies.

Lol, the typical 110 lb. ATOTer should know better than to play tackle football. Yes, there are morons in this world. Do you put yourself in situations where other ones can harm you as well?

if im playing on a real team (such as in highschool) then yes i expect to be tackled hard. heck been there did that.

But this is for fun. i dont mind getting tacked. I do not need someone thinking they are Urlacher out on the field. That is not fun. we are out there without pads and just trying to have a good time.

If you want to relive your glory days of high school get some of your other buddies and do it over a keg of beer or something. Not in a friendly football game.

actually i have been playing for years and havent got really hurt. I just do not want to take the risk of some moron who needs to prove he is a stud laying hits that do need to be done.

There is only one guy that does it. He used to play highschool (went ot state even) football hell its all he ever talks about after a game. He always try's to hit people (smaller then him) hard. Its to the point he is not even invited to play anymore. When he shows up he is not asked to be on a team. If he complains and gets in most people quit.

Its just not fun playing with someone who is out to hurt others to feel better about himself.

If i get hurt on a accident that is fine thats part of the game. But to get hurt because someone needs to relive there youth then that is over the line.

I'm not "that guy", but I've played with "him" (every area has one or two I guess). But being big myself - I don't avoid weights the way Michael Jackson avoids grown women - it doesn't get to me. So I know what you mean and can see where you're coming from - and would still suggest not playing tackle football if you're smallish. As you said, accidents do happen. My buddy was hauling ass, caught a pass & didn't see a telephone pole in front of him... Guess which one remained standing? He just got the wind knocked out of him, but would it make any difference if it were a "tough guy" type who tackled him? Trust me, that tackle was harder than any our resident tough guy laid down on anyone. As an aside, my buddy's a pretty big guy too, which is probably why he was ok.
