Well the money is raised from ticket sales, so it's actually putting *more* money into the states with winners and the system, otherwise it wouldn't get anything without more taxes.

Then the next time the lottery got big no one will play for fear of the winnings be taken away. Already the tax rates on the jackpot is about half. It's not tax money that's paying out the winners, so you logic is way off.

Critical thinking: Yeah the stupid tax is hard enough to collect (they pay for advertising). It would be a whole 'nother stupid tax if they were collecting from people knowing the jackpot would be "forfeited to rebuild the country" (what does that even mean?).

P&N: Also FYI, throwing money at large scale problems largely helps devalue the money rather than solve the problem.
