BUT...the higher atmosphere above Venus is intriguing. The planet is the closest to Earth, and in it's higher atmosphere it's about 70F, there's a lot of water vapor, and the pressure is about the same as Earth. We could put a floating observatory there and it would actually be fairly easy to operate- the planet would shield most of the radiation, the moderate temperatures mean less energy requirements, and it's position relative to the sun means a lot of available solar power.
There's even talk of microbial life floating in those clouds...
