The scams that I see at the hospital are fvcking expensive for the taxpayer.

Person with a legitimate, chronic pain issue gets admitted for another medical issue. Then they demand narcotic pain relief for their legitimate problem. They always forget to bring their narcotic medications to the hospital, but remember to bring all the other convenient ones! Narcotic vacation ensues. They sell the tablets that were perscribed for home use during that period.

They may be disabled and on the public dole, but they know how to make money.

My wife just tried to get a presciption filled at CVS and they told her they would have 1/2 the order tomorrow and 1/2 the next day.

I have been bitching at her something fierce because hydrocodone was having ever lessening effect on her back pain and her solution was to take more. Now that she has switched, the amount of pain killer she has to take doesn't make her seem like a crazed addict intent on pickling their liver.

btw-why do they include the mild analgesic Tylenol in strong pain medication? I could understand if it was an anti-inflammatory, but Tylenol seems so unnecessarily redundant, like putting a rubber band powered propeller on a Ferrari to make it go faster.

Just because that worked for you during your one night in the drunk-tank in the summer of 2000, doesnt mean it works for everybody.

My wife is on the extended release version. I hope they don't run low on that- with her spine issues she can't function without it

My brother is a pharmacist and says people will come in and buy narcotic-painkillers with thousands in cash, and legitimate prescriptions....crazy industry.

I got that stuff once when I got an in-grown toenail removed. I took one and tossed the rest. Maybe I should have horded them.

Are you serious?

Yes. somebody in the legal loop must be dumping out the back door for true pharm drugs to hit the street. There may be legal end users selling their meds but that could only account for a small portion of the street dump.

To limit abuse. Same story with the hydrocodone/apap your wife was on before.

You can't even buy cold medicine at some of the places around here without getting dirty looks. They seem to think that the only reason that people under 25 buy cold medicine is to get high.

I've been taking Loratidine with D for at least 10 years now, rather consistently.

I can't say that I'm extremely pleased with all of the loopholes I have to pass just to get a freaking 2-week supply over-the-counter. Fucking DEA and their worthless, head-up-their-asses, do-nothing enforcement policies.

I have 60 doses at home in my medicine cabinet IIRC. My dentist proscribed them when I had my f'ed up root canal a little while ago, but never had any major pain issues (or enough for me to take them anyway). I have to have a crown lengthening done really shortly, and that is supposed to hurt like a mother, so the surgeon may say I should take them then, not sure yet. I hope I don't have to, and can toss 'em.

Lack of Good Manufacturing Practices.

We haven't recieved any since late December.
The manufacturer (Ethex) voluntarily stopped manufacturing them.
They recalled Hydromorphone(we don't carry their brand), Metoprolol ER, and Isosorbide Mononitrate(we carried both of this).

So far we already have a replacement for Isosorbide Mononitrate, but not Oxycodone or Metoprolol ER.
I'm not sure I get what you mean. Were they recalled for contamination? Or did the manufacturer decide to get out of the narcotics business?

In most cases, because it works.

2+4 = 6.
6 > taking 4 alone.

Doubling up on the 4's will either kill you, shoot your kidney, turn your liver to mush, or make you a complete crackhead so that's not an option there.

I'm really not getting what you are saying with your math. Vicodin I'm familiar with comes either at 5, 7.5, or 10 mg which gets bundled with I think 400, 500, and 650 mg of acetaminophen.

The wife was taking the 10/650 and was far exceeding the max daily recommendation of 4000 mg for acetaminophen.

She's been on Vicodin for two years and had a spinal fusion of 3 vertebrae on 11/18/08.

Tylenol works different receptors than narcotics so it helps amplify the pain relieving effects.

Plus if you have some tylenol in there to take the edge off, it's that much less narc that they have to pack into the pill.

The recall was voluntary.
I guess it didn't meet their own personal standards?
There hasn't been any word on contamination or anything else.

They are not out of the narcotics business thats for sure.
