I'm coming around to the position that the best thing is to vote to impeach but withhold it from the Senate unless or until McConnell agrees to reasonable terms for the trial. If he never does, then it never goes to the Senate and Trump will be impeached but not get the acquittal he wants.

Defending the president would be admitting there is substance to allegations. It's a much more effective strategy for GOP to summarily deny any appearance of impropriety.And not a single defense of the presidents actions.

Why do you want to help them? The Dems retain control, can have additional testimony, and court cases resolved. They retain the upper hand or take a beating just like a martyr.
Don't complain when you want to give away the only way of not losing. Trump goes down in history as the only President not acquited and rightly so.

Even though impeachment is a political process, I’d rather the democrats not play politics when they don’t have to.
They have to or Mitch makes them into idiots and he wins even more support. Remember after the Mueller report? There was strong support for impeachment then and Pelosi played politics. Now there are no options other than to outright lose the war. I suggest we win the battle and not have a loss even if it is just a draw and permit the greatest abuse the the impeachment power to play out with impunity.
