Please feel free to think it can't happen as is your right, but I know that the world isn't bunnies and puppies first hand. YMMV.

I'm not saying it can't happen, in fact I'm one of the ones that believe that a second civil was is all but inevitable at this point. What I am saying is that if it does happen having a few small arms is not going to make a dam bit of difference.

The history books are not going to be kind to Trump. I hope one day he will understand that no matter what he thinks how things should be in that virtual world he created in his head where every single living creature and being was put there for his personal use and entertainment, the real world where everyone else besides his base lives takes precedence over the fake one he custom tailored to his liking.

Yet this is the problem that Trump faces each and every day he sits fuming in the White House: He thinks his job entitles him to be lord and master over every woman, man and child in the nation (and the world) which head on crashes into the reality that he is answerable to and being held accountable for everything he says and does while holding office.

He and his supporters refuse to acknowledge this reality, that they are a part of a bigger picture and cannot exist by merely excluding "the others" from participating in "their" world that Trump enabled them to build for themselves.

There's a saying that is applicable to situations like what we're discussing. When seconds count the police are only minutes away.

At this point we're not looking at a great concern about personal and family safety, but that it is possible the need to seriously consider defensive means, what do you suggest?

I don't think they could but that's no my point, it's just a matter of curiosity. If people decide that they are going to play terrorist how will others respond? No one expects a 16 year old girl to plan the mass murder of a black church, mail bombs out of the back of a Trump band or side with Putin over our government. Those things never happen, and yet they do.

If (and yes this is a hypothetical and not certain by any means, perhaps not even likely) Trump rallies the violent right how will you respond if it were to strike close to home?

No, don't go store a year's worth of food in your basement or put up steel shutters, but there are two choices. There first is to evaluate potential threat (low now) and decide what to do if it becomes a real risk.

So I figured I'd derail my thread for a moment to see what the thoughts of others are.

Back to Imaginary Cowland.

I ran a home security company for many years and I can tell you that a good door and loud alarm is better than a gun any day. You are much, much more likely to hurt your family with a gun then to defend it. Have you ever wondered why very few security guards carry firearms? It is because the uniform is a better deterrent than the firearm.

That's a fair opinion, thanks for addressing my question.

We also need to see Pompeo and Pence subpoened and testifying, as they were named by both Trump and Sondland now. ...will Pence be able to sit in that room without Mother behind him? There are some ladies on the Intel committee, and supposedly Pence can't be in a room where a woman is present and Mother is not with him, right?

I believe they refer to Volker, Sondland and Perry.

Also, I believe Giuliani has been subpoenaed for other information and has declared he won't obey any. He's just as scared as Trump is.

God Anita Fiona Hill sure kicked the legs out of idea Ukraine had anything to do with interfering with the 2016 election. More importantly, is that she laid blame to where this all belongs to Russian misinformation quite eloquently.
Freudian slip there

Interesting how active our "conservative" posters are in other threads in this forum, but remarkably silent in this one. Can't imagine why.

Completely. I'm so curious how the Republicans will spin it and see if they try to smear her 🙄

This whole process is just depressing to me.

All this damning testimony from countless, collaborative sources and you damn well know, just like the 100s of Congress passed bills before it, this impeachment will go nowhere in the Senate. It's outcome will have little to no effect on the 2020 elections because the outcome lies in the hands of about 100,000 people in a few states. Those people are not going to change their minds no matter what the President is found guilty of doing.

Our system has been gamed and its flaws found and they will be exploited for a long time coming.

The cynic in me thinks that the truth just doesn't matter. Even people I see and talk to who can't stand Trump - the person - are still pissed at the Democrats for possibly impeaching Trump and having the choice to vote for him again taken away. Most people are not even paying any attention to this or even know what channel these hearings are on. It comes back to the economy every time in these conversations.

I can sorta get why lunch pale Joe Shmoe doesn't follow along and get some of this, but I wonder if these Senators really believe what they are saying. It is one thing for a defense lawyer to put up a smoke screen to try and protect a client, but this is way beyond the pale. It kills me to see party over country

I'm not sure- have they been officially subpoenaed by the Impeachment Inquiry proper?

It is true, the sign does 80% of the work, at least for random burglary. Most of them will just skip over the house if it has a sign, it is just much easier to pick one that doesn't. Unfortunately most burglaries are committed by someone that knows the house already and would know that they don't have an alarm.

The truth is the monitoring is not all that important, the siren is the important part get as loud and obnoxious siren as you can, and put it somewhere hard to get to (the attic is a good place). If the siren goes off the robbers get out long before any police can arrive.

If you want monitoring, make sure you have a monitored fire alarm. Those are actually useful.
