HOLY CRAP.
T-Mobile's chat support is so full of shit.
You: Let me be more precise. When I'm downloading a file, the first 5 minutes is at full speed, and then it drops dramatically to 5KB/s. Everything is slow at this point - downloading the file, browser, speed tests, etc. If I stop the download, wait for a minute, the speeds go back to regular.
Jerico G: That's what I was about to explain actually.
You: So there is some throttling going on. T-Mobile sees that I'm downloading at high speed for 5 minutes straight, and then throttles my connection.
Jerico G: Let me explain that further.
You: I'm unable to download files for work because the speeds get much much too slow before I'm able to finish downloading the file.
You: ok
Jerico G: Please always remember that your mobile phone is not that reliable in terms of downloading/ uploading comparing to a personal computer ot laptop. You're not being throttled. The un-throttled speed is merely for the internet connection itself and the speed may still vary depending on the storage content of a file that you're downloading/ uploading plus the overall memory capacity of your device too.
Jerico G: *personal computer or laptop
Jerico G: Hello?
You: Yes. This did not happen two weeks ago. Same computer. Same place that I was downloading the files from.
You: Same phone I mean.
You: I was happily doing the exact same thing that I tried to do last night, only I wasn't being throttled two weeks ago. Same location. Same phone. Same server that I was downloading from. Same general size of files and same types of files.
Jerico G: So is your phone now have an additional file saved?
You: What do you mean?
Jerico G: You said you downloaded the same thing 2 weeks ago, is that still saved on your phone as of now?
You: I downloaded the same type of file. Zip files around 100-200MB in size.
Jerico G: If there's another file added and saved on your phone, that will affect the speed of the other file that you're about to download.
Jerico G: That's also a contributing factor in terms of connection speed because again a mobile phone was not designed to perform as fast as a personal computer.
Jerico G: That doesn't suggest that you're being throttled. That goes back to my explanation earlier that your phone is not that reliable in terms of internet browsing and related functions unlike a personal computer which you will experience a totally different function speeds
