Also another thing, they look like everything else on the road, and people who drive them are fine with that. Boring, not sporty.

I agree with the OP that stock accords should not be considered to be in any real "sports" category. That said, I it's fair to call a V6 Accord "sporty" compared to a lot of other cars out there, including some faster cars, such as some Mercedes. Part of being "sporty" is styling and marketing -- the images a car gives off, regardless of it's power or handling.

Real sports cars are defined by their numbers. Sporty cars are defined by their image.

what's wrong with looking like everything else on the road? so you'd prefer a pontiac aztek or a PT cruiser?

and accord/camry/altima are mid-size sedans that are meant to be family haulers. for their purposes, they are all perfectly fine. nobody was trying to pass them off as "sporty"... they have wide gear ratios so the engine won't rev up all the time, they have soft springs so you won't feel all the pot holes, etc.

that's why they put out souped up versions of the sedans to be the "sporty" offerings (such as the altima SE-R with stiffer suspension and more power)... but when something's sporty, it's bound to be less comfortable. you can't have both a nice smooth ride and then take the same car to the tracks.

So, a VQ35 is a dust buster in an Altima but it's God in the 350Z (I'll eat my shoe if you think that isn't a sports car)?

my accord

i don't care if it's not sporty. it gets me from point A to point B, it's reliable, and i'm happy with my 34 mpg that i get on my 2004 accord i4.

my last car was 1992 accord that i sold at 217K miles. as long as they stay reliable, i'll be driving accords for life!

accord FTW!

Sporty enough...

0-60 in 6.3 with a continuously variable "slushbox", and amazing handling for a sub $30k family sedan. Only car I'd take over it in its class is the MAZDASPEED 6 or Subaru Legacy GT, neither of which I think I could've gotten as cheap as I got the Altima.

EDIT: Trip computer says I average 23 mpg, and I drive in pretty crappy conditions as far as fuel economy goes (bunch of 80 mph highway driving, ton of stop and go traffic in Tampa, and then at least 40 miles a day of city driving).

That was a sports car.

I love how everyone is defending the V6 and its powerfulness near redline and yet maybe only a handful have driven their car to the max potential.

The press say it's sporty. The majority of the public doesn't know or even care to know the finer specifications of an automobile so they regurgitate information they read. Sporty is a made up marketing word they apply to make it seem more appealing.

That's fine. I have no problem with you, you like them and drive them. But, you don't try to say it is sporty, or worse rice it out, or go around telling everyone else they must buy one.

BTW nice pic, what beach is that?

So the entire thread has degraded into arguing about semantics. Good job OP.

Speak for your self. My Accord was always fun to drive in the backwoods twisties of WV. And to a lesser extent, here on the streets of CC.
