Very few PC parts remain.

This has been brewing for at least six months by my estimation...

Thanks to forum member Elixer for finding specific information about the closing of TigerDirect's business:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Direct

Update, 2/19/16: after selling through all inventory and cancelling many orders, Tigerdirect has been re-incarnated as a business-to-business enterprise taking phone orders only and offering above-retail prices...

Inventory is definitely low for CPU's and SSD's. Maybe they are riding into the sunset?

Stick a fork in them.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Direct
TigerDirect is a direct online and catalog retailer of computers and consumer electronics. It is a Systemax subsidiary. Its headquarters are in Fontainebleau, Florida.[3][4] It was sold to PCM, Inc. for $14 million which is expected to close on December 1, 2015.[5][6] Tiger Direct will end all online and brick and mortar consumer sales by the end of January 2016.

I did some shopping with them, and I did like 1 day delivery for the same price newegg charges for 3.

Kind of a bummer since the only actually hot deals I can remember getting the past couple years were AR TD deals.

well, at least I'll still have microcenter. I still like to buy B&M for video cards and monitors

Well, they bought out CompUSA a couple years ago in FL also, and those never looked that great to be honest the few times I stuck my nose in there afterwards.

I had bought a few things from them in the past many years ago.

I think they have been going the Radio Shack route a few years now really.

Even then when I talked to one of the managers and told him maybe they should look at updating their inventory compared to what you could just buy online it was kind of a "Ya OK" response and I'd just go order something off the Egg.

Well not to side with them at all but that's the only response that a most likely co branch manager would give you.

These guys don't dictate what to sell and if you're suggesting anything to them, it they just shrug it off as 'sure, I'll get to it if I'm still here in 12 years and made sr director of inventory'

That sucks, they always had some great deals.

Edit: here is a link to the ebay store, it appears to be more of a whats left in the warehouse type listing.

Do you have a link to reliable information regarding them going out of business in January? If this is true then people should definitely not be depending on their rebates... if they ever did, that is.

I saw that they have some 1000 watt psu's for around 88 dollars on the site, seems like a decent deal, if you need something that big.

If I lived in a city with microcenter, I would never buy any part online... They are so freaking cheap!

Yeah, this is only true on some components. Video Cards are a notable exception. SSDs and HDDs are probably had online cheaper, as well.

CPUs and CPU/Motherboard combos though... it's like they got their inventory from a pallet that dropped off of an Intel delivery truck. Usually a great deal to be had on any given week on the latest CPU tech at Microcenter.

Also... cheap keyboards and accessories.

Like everything we buy, the choices are getting less and the competition that keeps prices down is faltering. I will be sad to see them go, have gotten many good deals from them in the past and the rebates were always honored.

When are you kids going to learn?

Wiki is not a legitimate source. Where did the person that put it on Wiki get their info?

Nobody said it was... however, they do point out two stories about it.
http://www.twice.com/news/retail/tigerdirect-sold-pcm/59501
PCM, formerly PC Mall, has agreed to purchase Systemax’s TigerDirect brand and some of the B-to-B assets of its North American tech division for $14 million in cash.

The deal is expected to close on Dec. 1.
So, yes, Tigerdirect is DEAD as we knew it. They got sold for $14 million.
That is a very, very low $ figure to sell TigerDirect.

What will PCM do? Who knows, they got all the customer list, and remaining inventory, so they need to blow that out, and then, I assume they will just slap on a new store front to "TigerDirect", or not.

Oh, and if that isn't enough for you, then go to the horses mouth:
http://investor.pcm.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=945160
Under the terms of the agreement, PCM acquired the right to hire approximately 400 B2B sales representatives located across the United States and Canada, all rights to the NATG B2B customer list (and not any consumer customer list), certain B2B customer and vendor contracts, trademarks and other intellectual property rights including the TigerDirect brand, and certain fixed assets and equipment. The parties have entered into a transition services agreement to facilitate an orderly transition of the purchased assets. PCM expects that the acquisition will significantly enhance its footprint in the small-medium-business marketplace, as well as in the educational and public sector markets.

Frank Khulusi, PCM's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, stated, "This is an exciting acquisition intended to allow us to further leverage our operating infrastructure and bring our comprehensive solutions offerings to an expanded customer base. I have personally met with many of the newly hired sales representatives and share their excitement over the opportunities we have to provide our large newly acquired customer base with outstanding service and an expanded set of IT solutions."

We have hired 460 employees who formerly worked for Systemax's NATG business, of which 375 are B2B sales representatives. For the balance of Q4 and through Q1 2016, these B2B reps will be undergoing training on our systems and processes and ramping their productivity, with an expectation of an incremental cost impact to operating income of approximately $2 million in each of our Q4 2015 and Q1 2016. Certain purchased assets, including ERP tools, website technology, URLs and certain customer data, are expected to be delivered by the Seller by mid February 2016, after which we expect to achieve a more normal sales potential. We also currently expect the purchased assets and these sales representatives to ramp from approximately $40 million in sales in Q1 2016 to between $75 and $85 million in sales per quarter and an adjusted EPS accretion of $0.10 to $0.15 per quarter for the remainder of 2016, resulting in a 2016 full year adjusted EPS accretion of $0.20 to $0.30.

Over the last decade or so what I think has happened is that manufacturers have gotten more firm over price controls so nobody can base a business model off of being cheaper, it has to be based on value added. Brand by brand eventually nothing is getting sold by price vs other dealers.

TDR was sometimes cheapest, but rarely anything else was good.

Yup, water is swirling, almost nothing left online forsale. I looked at a BD drive but so little and confusing info with flaky feel, skipped it.
