Midnight Club Dub Editition for PSP seemed to have the longest load time of any game ever...but the rest of the games are decent...

im thinking of going with Ds or DSL doesnt reallymatter to me.
PSP with all its sexiness..does not appeal to me. I'm looking for fun. not load times, ports etc...
Though I'm sure PSP stilll has some good games its icategory but not enough to take me down that road.

I browsed forums.anandtech.com on a psp. Not fun at all. Cellphones hvae 200x better interfaces as far as typing and navigation. Also its actually suprisingly slow even thougn its on broadband, almost like it's not no 802.11b standards but maybe 56k. Then there si the fact webpages are compressed in format to fit so nothing is where it should be nd dont even get started with websites with frames. The whole internet browsing is complete worthless bs. you need to be clost to a wifi hotpoint to do it and even then you might as well boot up the pc, it'll be faster to boop up the laptop rather than just try to log in to a website with a psp.

I see both as sorta silly. The PSP really is jack of all trades master fo none. Internet is slow, 4gbs of memory costs you $130 so as a 3.5gb mp3 player it would cost $380 and the games are okay but I havent play any that draw me in or interest me.(Burnout, NFS: Rivals, That everquest action/rpg,SOCOM, Infected). Also if you wanto to play wirelessly like gameshare( 2 psp play together with only 1pspneeding a UMD) with Buirnout takes 10 minutes to load 1 race, and not menus mind you, 1 black loading screen for 10 minutes and when the race is over, restarting the race with the same opponent take another 2 minutes of loading screen.

The DS has fun games(mario, mario kart) bu the graphics are nothing special and it dosent have the multimedia capabilities of the psp.

If it was my choice, I'd go for the one that plays better games(DS) over the one that does everything half arsed.

<- coming form the guy that said before the 2 launched, "psp kicks arse and DS sucks, it's a gimmick no one will buy and I woyuld never be interested in."

something that im a little confused about, people keep complaining about the lack of originality of the PSP games, but it seems the most popular games for the DS/DS Lite are Mario Kart, Super Mario, and Tetris ... Not exactly original if you ask me...

The PSP on the other hand, looks great, but in the same respect, i dont see many games that look incredibly fun...

i think im gonna go out, spend half the price, and get a DS lite. I figure, $189 for the PSP, $60 or so for a 2gb card, maybe $25-30 for a carrying case, not to mention $30-40/game, im at over $300 with maybe one game.

DS lite would be $119 + $30 for a game + $20-30 for a case....

Seriously good choice.

Even though I own a PSP, it's not all that cracked up to be (Or ever was) but it's solid enough to keep.

Just try not to get sucked into the fanboyism of either console, since I've seen the horrors of it first hand already on these boards.

Your best bet is trying each system, both for the feel of it, and the game quality. You could always see gameplay videos at review sites like IGN.com. Both systems have good games, and in the end, thats what your decision should be based on (also web, mp3, and homebrew capabilities if thats important to you)

I haven't browsed the web with the PSP so i can't comment on that, but i do believe theres some demos showing the DS Opera browser somewhere. I'm hoping the use of a touch screen is implemented properly.

If Web Browsing is a factor for you, then get the DS lite.

When they realease Opera, it will be much better than PSP's browser.

It costs money because it will have its own dedicated memory (the GBA cart), and the lite version will fit flush with the system. Inputing text will also be easier with stylus. Also, Javascript and Flash will be supported.
