I concur with the OP 100%. No matter how you turn it, smokers and everything they own reek of smoking stench. Some other people stink for various other reasons (BO, whatever), but smokers *always* stink.

I've been clean for three years and when some douchebag lights up in a closed space, I want to flatten his nose. Convention being what it is I usually leave.

I didn't smoke until I was 19 and never had a problem with smokers, being at smokers houses, etc. Sure it isn't the most pleasant smell in the world but it isn't THAT bad. I'll take a girl that smokes over a girl with a BO problem any day.

No, it IS that bad.

A girl with BO can take a shower. A girl who smokes is most likely addicted and can't just take a shower to make it go away.

I don't mind the smell of smoke, but I cannot stand the smell of Coffee. And Coffee breath's 10x times more putrid than cigarette breath is.

Coffee breath's pretty bad, but easily fixed with a tooth brush and tooth paste and maybe a Tic Tac. Smoking lingers and reeks. Its absolutely disgusting and people who smoke should only do it on their own property or inside their own house. Not in public buildings, parks, streets, or establishments open to the public.

depends how much your around it. when i was younger and was around it more and went to friends who smoked houses more often, i didnt pay much attention to it....but now that i have very, very rarly been to a smokers house within several years...oh god, its really horrible, like i'm much more sensitive to it now. its cause i'm around more non smokers now than i was before and its kinda sickening to me now

Yes, smoking cigs makes you smell like an old, used ashtray. And no, smokers will NEVER realize this, until they themselves quit (just like I didn't realize, for almost 2 dozen years, until I quit 6 years ago). And yes, both sides will present their arguments, and think the others are (insert your favorite insult here) for thinking the way they do.

Personally, I encourage smokers these days. I figure the more they smoke, the quicker they're going to DIE, and the more social security money there is for the rest of us! WIN!! :whiste:

I was even commenting to my wife last night how pathetic it was to see you dependent ashtrays shivering your asses outside desperately trying to get that sucker lit when it's 15 degrees and the wind is gusting at 30 miles per hour. It's a shame there isn't a mirror close by so you could witness the scene for yourselves. It's hilarious and depressing all at once, and I know of one guy who quit cold turkey when he saw his reflection in a window while pathetically going through the motions above.

I grew up in a smokers' household, and when I moved out I vowed never to live with a smoker. I dismissed a chick or two in college when I found out they smoked. Not only do I see it as a sign of weakness (like alcoholism), but it's just. fucking. disgusting. You wreak. Your clothes wreak. Your car wreaks. The spot you were standing in 5 minutes ago fucking wreaks.

When I was a smoker I would have called you a pussy and to suck it up. Now I don't smoke and agree 100%. Shit burns my throat when I'm near a smoker now.

This. x eleventy billion. And don't get me started how I feel when I hear them bitching about not having any money but they spend $50+ a week on those stink sticks, or when they complain that they didn't get as much for a car they were trying to sell cuz of the smell.

But I agree, the sight of them standing out in the freezing cold to smoke just makes me shake my head. I wish I could find or make a good "de-motivational" poster to hang at work expressing it.
