I see psus with (2) 80mm fans or (1) 120mm fan. Which one on average has better cooling for (a) the psu and (b) better exhast for the mb?
thanks

I have heard mixed messages about this. Some people report lower temps with dual 80's due to a fan dedicated to exhaust while others report better cooling from a 120mm. The single 120 will almost definitly be quieter, but I am unsure about the cooling aspect. By having a fan directly exhausting out your PSU it would seem you would have less heat escape the PSU back into the case, but maybe thats just me.

Personally I plan to stick with dual 80mm PSU's that have adjustable exhaust fans. That way I can keep them cool and quiet unless I need the extra power

My Antec 550 True Control has a stock 92mm fan on the bottom (intake) and an TT 80mm exhaust. When I turn the fan control down all the way, it is very quiet. When turned up all the way, you can tell it is there, however, it can really blast some air through it. I really like this PSU, the rails are rock solid........

The original exhaust fan was chirping so I threw in a PC Power and Cooling Silencer fan in it. Very quiet but the with a PSU intake of 57cfm and exhaust of 27cfm, like Spike said, heat can enter the case through the vent holes in the PSU. I replaced the exhaust with a high speed TT 80mm and now it moves air out very well. As I said, with the fan controller present, the PSU is very quiet.....

I had a Thermaltake not-so-Silent Purepower 420 in my computer which had 2 80mm fans and it's noisy. I've since switched to Seasonic Super Tornadoes with one single 120mm low-speed fan and it's MUCH quieter.

The Seasonics seem to be a bit hotter though by 2-3 degrees Celsius. That's a tradeoff I'm willing to accept for a quiet computer though.
