PSU Ground wire

"Connect the RTN Grounding Cable connector (a thick cable) on one of the fixing screwholes of your mainboard. Double check, to avoid any contact with the neighbourhood components for preventing any short-circuit."

That's from my PSU's instruction manual. Is it saying to attach the ground wire to a motherboard stand-off screw ? I figured it should attach to the base someplace ?

A standoff screw is one of those metal screws sticking up that your motherboard screws into. Just screw your ground wire onto one of those.

Not sure what you mean by the base. What is the base of a computer? Any metal part of your computer should be grounded since its all touching.

It means before tightening all of the screws that secure the PSU to the case, twist this wire around one of them and then tighten it.

Oops that was a typo. I ment Case not base.


It seemed odd to me to attach a ground to the motherboard stand off screw was odd. I'll just attach the ground to a free spot on the case. Probally like Navid suggested.
