psu making chirping noise

i have seasonic x650 gold psu bought in 2013 it has started making chirping noise without load too what to do

Unless it has a lifetime warranty I would open and inspect it and clean any dust out, then while open, power it up connected to the system (if it needs a minimum load to make the noise) try to locate the component making the noise, being careful not to electrocute yourself in the process.

By chirp do you mean a very short high pitched sound? If it were longer I might wonder if the fan is going out, but otherwise probably something resonating, a magnetic like a line filter, transformer, inductor, or possibly a disc capacitor. In some cases you can apply pressure to a component with something non-conductive like a piece of wood., or try freeze spray to cool it and contract the material.

This all assumes you are comfortable with a soldering iron if you find a replacement component. If not, what else is there to do? Maybe coat a noisy inductor with epoxy to quiet it but those I've found which were noisy tended to make a very high pitched hum rather than a brief chirp sound.

Sounds like the best possible advice. Opening up a PSU is beyond the scope of most members here. It's very easy to get hurt servicing a power supply without proper skill/knowledge.

I had a monitor which started making high pitched noises after a couple of years. it turned out to be one of the capacitors (looks a bit like a drinks can) on the power supply board. moisture gets into the caps over time, and the metal tops of them start 'bulging'. it was a £2 part, just needed a screwdriver for the monitor casing, a solder sucker and a soldering iron. (if you replace a cap, if it's polarized, make sure you get positive and negative leads right)

That advice would be great for a unit with no warranty. However, since the OP's PSU is still under warranty from Seasonic, if they open it up at all, it will void the warranty.

Consumers pay for the warranty coverage when they buy a product, so why not use it when needed?

My Seasonic was randomly chirping on start up a couple months after I got it. It still worked, so they would do nothing. It failed a couple months later, and then they RMA'ed it. Hopefully it fails before July 2020, or maybe you will have better luck.
