I'm having some trouble with my new computer setup and was wondering if anyone here could help.

and a brand new Antec Earthwatts 500w power supply, but I seem to be facing some problems with them and the cpu cooler not running.
-When I have all psu plugs in the mobo's power connections
the computer will run, I'll get bios on the screen, but the cpu cooling fan will repeatedly start and stop prompting me to turn off the system so nothing is damaged.
-When I only have the 24pin mobo power connector in (no extra 12v connector into the mobo) the system runs and the cpu fan runs continuously, but nothing shows up on the monitor screen.
Anyone have any clue as to what may be going wrong here?
