PSU question

So, I'm usually a skeptic about these things, and I'm pretty sure the answer to this question is probably no, but I figured I'd ask anyway....

I was bored and looking at parts on eBay, and I saw some cheap, good looking PSUs like this one:

(example #1): OKIA Black 600W power supply

So, should I think about buying any of these at all?

because I'm thinking 500-600W is plenty of expansion room for my system.....

Thanks for any help!

Any time when you're offered a PSU under $40, you better be sceptical. Quality comes with a price tag and it starts at $50 and up.

The best are Fortron, Enermax, Seasonic and PC & C. You can pick whatever else is out there, its your money. You came to AT for some good advice, use it or not.

time and time again I see these posts, it is not all about watts! its about continuous watts and amps! 24a on the 12v rail is decent, but the wattage rating is for maximum...not continuous...you need to know what the sustained or continuous wattage is.... but I wouldnt buy it for my system...or a clients system....period

Just replaced a OKIA 450 watt power supply for a friend of my son. It is very light, very cheaply made. Lasted about 6 months. Luckily nothing else fried with it.

I had that in a rig a while back, ran fine but the output was not one advertised, it was pretty darn loud too.

heh, no, I was definitely skeptical, but my last PSU topic got barely any responses, so I thought I'd get your attention. ^_^

btw, pkme2, thanks for the PSU suggestions, I've never bought one before, so I needed that......

Thanks!

EDIT: btw, I was looking at an Enermax PSU, and it has 2 fans.....

so, the second fan, when installed, will point down, right? because my case doesn't have a hole for that fan on the top.... -_-

(Just thought I'd ask a semi-stupid question)

Yes it will point down. But 2 fans aren't always better than one. Especially when they are just 80mm. Stick to large, quiet 120mm fan models like Seasonic S12s

It will point down. Power supplies are traditionally photographed upside-down so that you can see the fan.
