PSU recommendation

From what I've gathered lately, the following PSUs give good performance for price in their range. I know everyone will say I'd be better off buying one of the high-end Corsair PSU's, but I don't really have the money to spend on it.

So, which of these (or another in the $50-70 range) would you recommend?

The system this will be powering will be an e6400, 2gb ram, DS3 or P5B-E motherboard (here), and will probably end up having 2-4 hdd's at some point in its life.

My intent is to moderately overclock (3.0 - 3.5 GHz)

I would go with the Enhance power supply over your other choices.

I bought a Hiper 530W power supply recently and am totally amazed with it. I would have bought an Enhance though if I had of known about them prior to my Hiper purchase. Still I could not be happier with my new power supply.

Personally.. I used to always go for Fortron or Sparkle supplies (somehow these to companies are related to each other). They actually make a lot of the power supplies that other companies rebrand (a few of the OCZ models as I remember).

The power supply is a key part of a stable system so make sure you check reviews where they actually measure the voltage fluctuations and make sure they stay in a good range. I normally feel comfortable with the Fortrons but any PS that is tested and seems clean would be okay... as long as the noise factor is tolerable.

The Enhance is a high-end quality PSU, the other two are junk...

o yea, if 3.5GHz is a moderate overclock, what do you consider an extreme overclock?

The greatpower xclio, also on newegg is an enhance.

Actually, I think Greatpower is a CWT with better caps, like the Thermaltake Toughpowers.

Stablepower is Enhance (though the 500W-and-below ones aren't 80Plus like the GH).

Pony up the bucks and get a PC Power And Cooling. Best PSU's in the world hands down. any PSU under $100 bucks and rated at 500W will not have the proper, stable voltage on the 12V rail for ANY type of stable system.

you get what you pay for.

PC P&C is very nice if you have 200 dollars to spend. However, you are over exaggerating on any PSU under 100 dollars or 500 watts is not going to be stable for anything. Many PSUs do just fine. I've got a Fortron Blue Storm here thats been running 24/7 an overclocked A64 system for 2 years, rock solid. Cost me 70 bucks, but the enhance would do just as well.
I did get what I paid for.

The Sunbeam isn't as bad as all of the other Sunbeam PSU's since it's made by Etasis, but it still has the faulty caps and crappy fans (dual 80mm < 120mm).

The Sunbeam NUUO 550W has gotten good reviews:

• jonnyGuru gave it his "jonnyGuru Recommended" award
• Extreme Overclocker gave it their "Highly Recommened" Award
• Overclocker Cafe put it in the top two PSUs for the price.

Even though it has F* caps (which jonnyGuru actually says aren't that bad if you keep them cool and don't run them out of spec) sure there are better caps, but he NUUO is a good PSU for the price and features.

Best PSU Ive ever had, except fot the one in my sig, was made from a company called Wintec. Bought over 6 years ago, and it still works on my home server. Only costs 50 bucks from a store called Cables and Chips. Dont know if they are around anymore.

You couldn't be more wrong. Enhance, Fortorn, Enermax, and Antec all produce fine PSUs for under $100. Fry's just had a deal for Antec Earthwatts 500w for 39.99 shipped after rebate. That Earthwatts has 408W on 12V rail and will provide enough power for 8800 GTS system, and even a 8800 GTX system as long as the other components are modest.
