Might have been asked before but I can't search right now for some reason.

What are the PSU requirements for each of these video cards.

Would a 450W PSU be enough?

7800GT
A 350-Watt power supply is recommended and the total draw of the card is around 75-80 Watts.

So yes, 450W is fine.

I run:

Athlon64 3000+
6800GS
DVD drive
CD burner
Two hard drives
2 case fans

I have been on a OCZ 430w for a year. It's all about quality, not quantity.

AFAIK the 6800 series uses more power than the 7800 series so a decent quality 450W PSU should be enough. If its below par, you may have probs.

I run a 7800GT fine on an Antec NeoPower 480W active PFC PSU. I'm almost certain I have more power to spare.

My Rig in sig configured with 7800GT = 352W (100% PSU Utilization)
My Rig in sig configured with 6800GS = 329W (100% PSU Utilization)
My Rig in sig configured with 6600GT = 320W (100% PSU Utilization)
My Rig in sig exactly as I use it (SLI 7800GT) = 464W (100% PSU Utilization)

7800GT is the most power hungry of the 3 cards. I use a Hiper Type-R 580W Modular PSU that most people would pan, but in all tests I conducted it was fine. Most PSU's will be fine for you (350W minimum but 400W+ recommended). 450W should easily provide enough stability for you.

100% CPU utilization is when your computer is under a full working load right? and when you press ctrl+alt+del on xp and it shows 100% ?

Yes-100% is fully in use.

Don't forget that it's not necessarily the total wattage so much as the +12 rail. +5 and +3.3 are not nearly as taxed as in the old school days. It's mostly the 12v that matters anymore.

Some people will tell you that you need combined 30A, some 20A, and there will always be variance based on your rig and your usage. I've run a Winchester @ 2.7 in a fully decked out rig (5 case fans, 3 HDD, DVD-RW) with a bios flashed 9800 Pro (XT) oc'd to hell and back for about 6 months on a 350 watt 18A on the +12 rail Fortron psu. Important here is that while there are tremendous bargains to be had, name brands and past history are important with PSU's.

Sorry to go off topic, but doesn't your computer limit having a 7800gt in sli? I'd think I'd rather have a 6800gs in that setup.

It is CPU limited having a SLI setup on a 2.2 or 2.4GHz CPU but it does mean FEAR is at least playable with the eyecandy turned up.

I have an eVGA 6600GT (at stock right now) with a moderately overclocked socket 754 Sempron, an NEC DVD burner, a single 160GB Seagate IDE hard drive, and two 120MM case fans. My PSU is a Fortron Source 400W and it is just barely enough for the system. I can add one additional 80/92MM case fan and be OK, but two extra fans or even just one more hard drive causes the video card to artifact badly at the POST due to not getting enough power...

Don't forget about peak power wattage. A quality PSU such as the PC P&C 510 SLI may "only" have 510W, but has 650W of peak power.
