I'm in the market for a new PSU, and ever since I've moved my computer to my room noise has been a very serious issue. I've purchased quiet compnents, suspended my hard drives and even made my own make shift fan switch, but no matter what I do my PSU is still the loudest compnent in my pc.

My requirements:
Needs to run all three of these systems(not all at once tho):

1: axp2500+, dfi nfinity, 1 gig of DDR 400, dvd-r, dvd-rw, 1 80 gig samsung hddd, 1 80 gig maxtor hdd and one 36 gig raptor, ATI radeon 9800 pro 128 mb, 2 120mm case fans and a small lcd screen.<nothin overclocked

2: same as above system but change the motherboard to either an abit av8 or msi k8n neo 2 and the cpu to an a64 3500+ either winchester or venice core

3: Same as the others except change the video card to a pci-e 6800 gt, motherboard to an an8 fatality, or dfi nforce 4 ultra-d, possibly add another gig of ram

The later is the highest specs this PSU will ever run, I was thinking the enermax noisetaker 485 watt version? and i read:

This Article

And became curious, are both of the enermax's fans connected to the thermistor things? I thought I understood that only one was, but i could be wrong.

And secondly if only 1 is can i disconnect it and solder it onto the manual fan control that the other fan is attached too?

If both fans are connected to thermistors can I just cut them off and seal the ends of the wires?

basically I want full control of my psu fan speeds, i dont want them thermally controled

Sorry about the length, but thanks for the help,
Graeme

a 330+ watt Seasonic S12 would be perfect for your setup (I'd rec the 430 watt version to be future proof)

If you're not looking to up it to a 6800GT anytime soon, In-Win PSUs can be an easy replacement to be super quiet & very easy on the wallet.
