Hi,

I need a second GPU to run my two Ark Odyssey monitors.
I'm thinking of the 3060 8GB as I'm guessing it should be powerful enough to run the desktop at 4k @ 165Hz for both monitors.

I'm wondering what size PSU I need for my setup:

  • 7950X
  • Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme X670E
  • Gigabyte Gaming OC 3090 Ti (runs 2x G9 Neo)
  • Gigabyte Gaming OC 3060 (not bought yet) (will run 2x Ark Odyssey)
  • 64GB Corsair Vengeance 5600MHz
  • Lots of NVME/SATA SSDs
  • Fractal Design Torrent case
It is currently powered by a:
  • Seasonic Prime TX 1000W Titanium

I feel like the safest option is one of the 1500W+ power supplies, but that's going to mean getting a 15-amp socket installed as well.

Appreciate any suggestions/advice!

Cheers,
SB

I used PC Part Picker to add everything and see the power requirements. I added 4 NVME and 4 SATA SSDs plus a 3060 as the second card. Power shows as 1030W. So a 1200W would be the minimum I think, although depending on what you use the 2 Ark monitors for they may not require much from the 3060. Does the Torrent support a 1200W+ PSU? It will be longer than your 1000W most likely.

Good idea. Thanks for the help!

The Arks should just be doing basic stuff -- browser tabs, email, Discord, YouTube, documents, etc.

However, I definitely feel like that's getting a bit too close.

Re the torrent, I'll double check that. I think it does. Edit: Yep, seems to support 230mm long.

55 inches is too close unless your in a span of at least 2-3 feet away from it.
I have a similar setup i think your requesting.

eVGA 3090 FTW3 + eVGA 3070ti FTW3 on my rig with 3 monitors.
4K 32inch Monoprice Crystal LED + Gigabyte FV43U in (portrait mode) I had an OLED here but i replaced it to a QLED VA panel.
^this is all connected to my 3070ti.

Alienware aw3821DW + Occulus Rift S ==> Connected to my 3090.

To be honest a 3060 could easily do that job, so can many other videocards.
If you honestly ask me tho, id probably throw in an Intel A750 instead of a 3060 unless you already have one, because you would get quicksync support for encoding if you ever needed it.
3060's are sort of the dead center "IS NOT WORTH IT" price gap, because of how the 3060 was launched.

Thanks for the input!

Yeah I have each one about 3 feet away. You can definitely see the pixels if you get too close.

I checked out the A750 -- it's not too dissimilar in price (on sale) to the 3060 that I'm looking at. But looks like it only 1 HDMI 2.1 port and I'll need 2.
