I find it best to complain in public as well as directly in case it puts any pressure on them:

Last year I purchased new prescription glasses from you at the shop inside my eye doctor's office (Dr. Berger in Newnan, GA). They are the most expensive glasses I have ever owned due in no small part to carrying your name but they have degraded to such a point that I can no longer wear them in public without making your brand look bad.

The silicone/rubber that runs from the legs along the temple is rotting right off! It still feels soft but it is falling apart and shearing off in pieces. Because it is removable it is also easily replaceable but I can't find any mention of it on your site.

At the time of purchase I recall asking if I could get different colors at the doctor's office. They said "no" so I know they can't get the parts either. Due to the design of these glasses the soft rubber parts are very prominent. It's obvious to me that it should have included replacements with the glasses in the first place.

My last pair of Cargo-brand glasses lasted me from 2005 through 2012. I cannot legally drive without my glasses so you'd better believe that I expected more from your brand. The band on my Fossil-made Sony-Ericsson MBW-150 wrist watch recently broke as well and the display faded in a matter of weeks so I am not inclined to trust your brand for other reasons. I got positive comments on both while they were still presentable but I have learned my lesson: if you can't resolve this then I will never buy your brand again.

Please let me know if there is anything you can do. Thanks.

Submitted online. Will update if I get service.

Edit: OK. Looks like I got taken to the cleaners by my eye doctor. I'm pretty sure I paid $280 and then still got another huge bill for a many hundred dollars when my insurance didn't cover nearly as much of the cost of the glasses as they told me it would. They "forgave" a lot of it for their mistake and I don't know how much of it was in the cost of the lenses but I did get the absolute cheapest plastic lenses.

Your eye doctor, who charged you hundreds of dollars for those frames, probably paid less than $50 for them......probably under $30. The markup on glasses frames makes diamond markups pale in comparison.

Fossil is not a high end, high quality brand. They make low/mid prices stuff that is supposed to look expensive, but is really pretty crappy.

This. I'd compare it to clothing branded glasses like Dockers or Van Hussen that you can pick up for <$20 a pair.

Did you take your eyeglasses back to the optometrist's office? Back when I foolishly paid the huge markup on glasses, they were pretty good about doing repairs like that - had parts around for the nose pieces. Even changed the arm on one of the glasses once (though it wasn't a perfect match). I've noticed that the eyeglasses site online that I purchase from can also send me repair parts. And, for your $280, I could have gotten about 10-20 pairs of eyeglasses.

Yup, my mom was a sales manager at an eyeglass world in the 90s.

If the markup is still the same, it was 1000%-2250% depending on the brand.

Which is why I see them for $70 in multiple places online.

Yep, which means that their brand is all they care about and specifically why I went after their image as a brand.

The brand actually didn't factor into the purchase decision at all. I thought they might work well with my motorcycle helmet because this particular model has no legs at the end of the temple. It was also the closest to the style I was already looking for (frame-less on bottom, not too flared at the top, not too squared at the edges, and medium-sized lenses). It just happened to be one of the most expensive frames they sold.

Not since the rubber/silicon started degrading but I have been back for other adjustments and have inquired about replacement rubber/silicon with them (it's easy to take off and re-apply). They said that they can't do that.

Edit: WTH? Time-warping is back?! It says "2:31PM" when it was closer to 8:19PM here.
