Public employees should definitely have how much they get paid revealed and a recording of themselves at their own expense (and that means we're not going to pay them more to do so nor create another cabinet department to do so). I think if we did that, then the people would demand that everything other than the Depts of State, Defense, and Treasury would be abolished.

As for private employees, that should be voluntary unless they take tax payer money.

That first paragraph reads like something a bot would write, a poorly programmed bot at that. The second paragraph opens the door for just about every salary to be made public as there are very few companies that don't take tax payer dollars in some fashion (sell snowplows to local government, missiles to the feds, burgers to state employees on per diem, etc.).

Anyway, back on topic...

I was at a public meetings where a member of the public yelled out "I want to know how much I'm paying you!" at one of the state employees. The employee responded "$46,462* per year. Next question." Straight to the point and kept the meeting on topic.

Personal information should not be made available; but the ranges for each classification should be, and already are, public information. This should be sufficient information already:

The only addition that may be warranted would be how many of each classification the state employs.

I agree with this. In many places, public employee pay rates ARE public information...you just have to know where to look...or who to ask.

Sure, I have no issue with that either. Those who are employed by government though would have to be barred from voting. Also, I don't believe people paid with tax dollars should pay taxes. That just doesn't make fucking sense to me, this is one of the reasons I'm for lowering the shit out of public salaries.

I am a public employee and I know how much I make, but then I also know how much my coworker makes which is 33% more and she has the same job description, but does maybe lesser work.. only reason why she gets paid more.. she is classified "Engineer" while I am classified "Scientist". Mind you she doesnt have PE or hasnt passed the EIT. I end up doing her work cause she is incompetent.

Like Pay for Like Work FTW!!! Come on Gov. Brown... give us scientists equal pay...

I'd say that elected officials should be public knowledge, but for the rank and file civil servant positions, just the pay scale.
