Pulled the trigger

I finally pulled the trigger and got my new mac. My wife will be getting my current macbook pro and I will have this for home and a macbook for work.

Nice, hope you enjoy that.

How are the displays on the imac? On par with the MBP level, or a little cheaper like the MB? I've been considering one for desktop use.

I think the screen quality is good. But I'm not one of those guys who really notices the difference. I still use a dell 2001fp at work and relaly can't tell much difference between that and my mbp (except for brightness).

The 24 inch Imac screen is in a different league from the MBP as it is an IPS panel. It's the same as the 24 inch Apple Cinema Display but without the LED backlight. The 20 inch is not so good though.

They gave me a date of april 24-28th. So if it's not there by then I'll probably cancel the order and go with my second option, which is another macbook pro.

Yep, I got the same one. The ship date on it is May 5. Apple is saying the 4850 is on back order and thats the reason for the delay. Good luck though.

I unpulled the trigger. I'm worried about the reports of crashing imacs. I'm not going to spend that much money and not be able to use it for months while they try to fix the firmware.

Well, I drove to the apple store last night. I bought a stock 2.66ghz macbook pro and a 24inch display.

So far I'm happy

Nice, I have to admit that I'm a little scared with the freezes. However, my iMac is being replaced with the 4850 so I don't have the option of getting a MBP. I was debating on just going with the nvidia 512mb card but from what I've been reading the freezes are not with all the 4850s but with some here and there.

I'll give it a shot and if it freezes up then I'm going to give them hell. My tentative ship date is May 5.

Yea, I just didn't feel comfortable with knowing their might be a problem. I guess it worked out good for apple though.
