you mention little will change. In that event i'd like to ask what little IS expected to change?
The editorial team here will have access to greater resources for one. But really, it's business as usual for Anandtech.
What key areas are you looking into, to improve the quality of AT and (if) the forums
None so far. I've heard a lot of people requesting a reduction in the downtime for maintenance that takes place, so that might be something worth looking into. But there's no grand, master plan to make big changes here. It doesn't make sense to try to fix something that isn't broken.
From my personal perspective, if there's some quick technical issues that are outstanding, or infrastructural items that can be tended to without any disruption, that would make the most sense to go for first. The second part of that would be making sure the mod team and admins have what they need to keep the forum running smoothly, and address any issues, concerns or needs they might have. After that? Listening to the community at large, moving slowly but surely on the requests it might have. Above all, a careful, cautious approach.
Not bad. I'll take it.
It's the narrative he's paid to maintain.
Actually, being here was my own idea. Explaining in as simple terms as possible what the acquisition means to the community at large was something I was (and am!) excited to do, because it represents a challenge. How best to overcome the automatic human reaction to perceived threat and instability when a significant event takes place? How best to get the bulk of active community to give the benefit of the doubt? Sincerity, honesty, forthrightness and casual interaction - and answer everything I can to the best of my ability and knowledge. It isn't a narrative concocted, it's truth. It's actually much easier for community goobers to tell the truth, by the by, because then they don't have to remember the lie, so I've always made it a point to do so.
But like I've mentioned before, these are all blah blah words. The actions are considerably better proof.
