No, images are only stored in HDD (harddrive(s)). RAM/memory clears out because it's only temporary storage. There is no magic instrument in the computer.

Pretty straight forward.

All data is stored on the hard drive.

You're keeping the hard drive with you and sending them the laptop minus that.

It is not possible for them to get the data without the drive.

Unless there is a second piece of memory (CD in the drive, SD card in a reader, flash drive magically hooked up somewhere unsee-able) there is no way the pics can ever be retrieved since the RAM is volatile and gets erased after the machine is shut down.

This - and not kidding. Even formatting and overwriting a few times doesn't rid them from most SD cards. Gotta persistently overwrite with 1's and 0's. It only takes a few KB to recreate a thumbnail.

As for teh hard drive - if it's in the OP's possession, they are safe. They will not escape into some pervy tech's JO collection or onto the internetz

Explain that the techs will boot the computer in safe mode while working on it. Just as with Google Image Search, you can't view naughty pictures while in safe mode.
