No. Not over several days, just one day as in within 24 hours.

First off, it was $500 I won off him, second I showed you the pic of the cash, and last but I doubt I'll be able to get a pic of the watch.

i know this thread is mostly about the scratch proof watch, but i just want to add that just because the guy is a janitor, doesn't mean he doesn't make good money from it.

my one cousin's husband started a ceiling cleaning business. he cleans the ceilings of many stores like circuit city, best buy, etc. apparently he makes really good money doing it because there's no one else offering that service.

its only him and maybe a few other people now so even though he owns the business, he's out cleaning too.

Funny story and told well. I feel bad for the poor people who bleat "Cliffs?" because they have the attention span of a two-year-old.

I know what you mean - some people are so arrogant, they don't have the common sense to realize when they might not know as much as they think they do. The best part was that you let him do it!

I think the main point was the guy was a prick. He liked to mouth off and denounce others it seemed.

anyway, he's an idiot to have done that. but at least he owned up to it and really paid up. props to that. but you knew he'd never back down, not w/ the way you described him anyway.

Kinda unfair since diamond sharpening stone's surface isn't something your watch would be exposed to in normal wear and tear.

I don't think it's unfair. The guy was saying anything. And that encompasses... well.. everything.

Awesome story, kudos to you for at least giving him the option to back down. I can imagine his S.O. was happy with him when he came home $500 poorer and a scratched "$2000 watch" to boot.

What I thought too...hell, why didn't you just take an axe to it?

And, ya, I'd watch my back walking out to my car for a while. I'd have told him what it was before letting him destroy an expensive watch on it as well.

Ah well. Hopefully he learned a lesson about how far some guys will go to win a bet and you learned that some watches really are nearly scratch proof.

I'm calling shens, simply for the fact that any thugly janitor would kick your ass long before handing over $500 for destroying his $2000 watch.

1. He proves he has the file by including a picture of the cash aswell. Those aren't things you often see together.
2. He might be union.

Bleh, no I just woke up for the day. Got to sleep at some time so I had to stop posting for a bit.

Since I'm awake, here are some answers to some questions I read earlier.

1) No, I haven't seen him since. This all literally happened an hour or so before I wrote the original post. Now, today, and this very minute as I'm writing this response is my day off. I won't see him until tomorrow when I go back.

2) Yes he did pay up. Which is WHY I had TONS OF FRIKKING WITNESSES. I made sure the guy had the money in hand before we did anything and there was no way out.

3) I never thought anything bad about the "janitor" until now. I talked to him alot and thought he was funny as hell most of the time due to his crude behavior. Trust me, when you work in retail and close the place down for the night, you really get a bit irritated at the customers that you ran into during the day. The janitor too me was a mood breaker with his cracks and jokes at the end of the night for the last month. So we got along until he called me out and started turning that crude behavior to me.

4) As far as being fired for cussing in front of the manager... LOL. I think not. Hell the managers seem to cuss more then any of the employees where I work. I'm constantly telling Eric, the manager that was there both nights that this whole long event went down, to watch his language. Actually he's not that bad usually but he has to deal with one other employee that works with us that is so annoying and completely retarded that the moment Eric see's the guy he just almost starts going into a cursing fit. So why isn't the guy fired? Because we are a COMMISSION STORE and that means if you can do your job as a salesperson well enough to kick some a$$ on the sells floor, they aren't going to fire you. I'm the top guy right now on the floor. I could probably walk up to the general manager and kick him in the nuts and not get fired. Not that I'm going to try but that's how it is.

5) Why do I have a diamond file? Because my kitchen cutlery can ONLY be sharpened by it. I own Global kitchen knives. Look them up and you'll see why I have this sharpening stone.

6) As far as thinking he might cap my a$$... well the thought has crossed my mind. Actually, I'm more scared he might do something to my car instead. Time to come into work a bit earlier and park in a parkinglot a bit further away for now. Wouldn't do to have my car turn up as scratched as his watch because he was still harboring a grudge.
