I strongly suggest everyone read that speech. It is a gold mine of humor. Poor Putin is very sad that international law is not well respected and that countries are being invaded. He thinks that expanding NATO doesn't have anything to do with increasing security in Europe as he goes around invading many of the non-NATO members that are next to him.
It's just all around hilarious.
Russia lacks the economic power or the political power to undermine much of anything. They are a country that's never quite been able to lift itself up into the realm of developed nations, it has few political friends, and their recent aggression has isolated them both politically and economically. In short: Putin royally fucked up.
