Putting parts from old PC into new case

Hi,

I have an old Desktop PC. What I want to know is, can I take all of the insides out and put them in to a larger case?

Basically, I want to buy a new case, take out the components from the old PC and put them into the new one with a new graphics card.

I've got an i5-2500 with Freezer 7 Pro on a H61 motherboard and 2x4gb of RAM with a Kingston V300 + Silicon Power 512GB ssd and a 7950 (replacing with GTX 1060).

My budget is limited to no more than around 50$~60$.

  • CORSAIR CARBIDE SPEC-04
  • CORSAIR CARBIDE 88R
  • CORSAIR CARBIDE 100R
  • ANTEC DF500
  • ANTEC NX200
  • COOLER MASTER K280
  • ANTEC P7 MID TOWER WINDOW
  • ANTEC P7 SILENT SUPER MID
  • ANTEC P6 COMPACT MICRO
  • Zalman Z3 Plus
My current PC case is Gigabyte GZ-G1 Plus.

Which one will be the easiest to install?
Thoughts?

You most certainly can transfer pc components from an existing case to a newer case. I have done it many times over the years.
In fact, I am getting ready to do it again.

There are a few things to check before purchasing a new case. Most of it has to do with physical dimensions and storage.

Typical consumer motherboards are available in several sizes from the mini ITX all the way up to EATX. Case descriptions and specifications usually indicate which size motherboards the cases can accommodate.

Case sizes also vary anywhere from small form factors all the way up to full tower cases and huge custom case cases.

Storage varies quite a bit. We've got everything from the old 5.25 inch drive bays, 3.5 inch drive bays, and internal 2.5 inch drive bays. Some of the storage brackets may be hidden somewhere inside the case. Just need to make sure the new case has a sufficient number of drive bays or hidden storage brackets and that they are the correct size.

Among the cases you mentioned, the Corsair Carbide Spec series would be okay. The Carbide Spec cases come in several different versions and sizes.

I decided to stretch my budget since Corsair Carbide 275R Tempered Glass seems exactly what I am looking for.
Is it better than Antec P8? And should I go with the white 275R over the black?
Some opinions would be cool.

Watch some reviews on YouTube? It should give you the pros / cons of any case you are interested in.

And I don't know if anyone can tell you to get a white case over a black one. I guess go with whatever color you like, maybe?

I like the white one, but I get the feeling that a white case could slowly turn beige.

I'm not a fan of white either, but not because it could darken over time. I simply like dark cases as they don't show dust, and they don't stand out as much in my home office. A bright white case would be immediately noticeable compared to the dark furniture.

If you're spending $80, there are definitely some other cases you could look at, but the 275R is a good case, basically a 270R with a glass side panel.

Also, how can a white case show dust more than a black one? I've always thought my black ones make the dust stand out.

My dog with black hair helps with that.

Plus, if it was a shiny black, I could see it really showing up. However, my cases are matte, so regular dust doesn't show up easily.

Black fur I can understand, but that's a bit different from dust Dust shows up really easy on my cases, but perhaps I simply have more dust than you

Yeah, I guess when I think of dust in my house, I think more about our two dog's dander and hair.

We have the kids vacuum every day, and dust every week, but our two dogs are shedding machines. It's a losing battle, and for some reason my wife won't let me shave them bald.

Now that I think about it, it's funny that I apparently selected a matte black case subconsciously because their non-stop shedding. It wasn't until you said something about my first comment where I even thought about that point.

I'm a fan of the Phantek P350X at the moment, I really like how that one looks and it's in your budget at $60. It's what I will consider if I transplant my Dell Precision T3500 out of the stock case.

Just got the black 275R case in the mail and its AMAZING!
The build quality is fantastic, the minimalist design looks very nice and cable management was simple. Great value for money.

Thanks for the help

It's a good looking case, but hows that front airflow? The case looks a little closed off up front.

The air flow is a little bit restricted but it does allow some air, it has gaps in the front panel that allow air to flow into the case, so it's not completely closed.
In my opinion its enough, especially if I decide to add one or two 120/140mm fans.

I have decided to add three fans to the case, so now there are two fans in the front that intake air, two that exhaust it at the top, and one in the rear that also exhaust the air.
One of the fans above is transparent, do you think dyeing it in black would be good?

Nah, I wouldn't bother to dye it, does it look bad somehow, or out of place? Then again, take my comment with a huge grain of salt, I don't do much modding these days, nor do I have any sort of sense of fashion or good looks, so YMMV. I'm pretty much a functionality-above-all kind of guy. I also suck with cable management.

Since I had free time today (my boss let me go home early), I preferred to utilize my inactivity by dyeing the transparent fan in black, so that the fan will match the rear and top fans' colors.
In addition, I bought an RGB LED strip but my motherboard does not have a 4PIN RGB header so I ordered this RGB controller (4-Pin) that connects to SATA power. I like the white color.
