I'm trying to put together a system with a good lcd 19 inch monitor I am a tweener the heaviest gaming I do is Madden. I would like to be able to watch streaming video and sim games at the same time. My budget is about $1300. I will probably try to build it myself using the tutorials on this site and I will be able to upgrade cpu in july. Any suggestions?

Thanx

Well, getting a good gaming 19" LCD is going to cut into your budget quite a bit. Have you ruled out a good quality 19" CRT monitor already?

Once you get the LCD picked out, it would be easy to pick out your hardware with what you have left.

I was thinking I would put The system together first and then maybe the wife would let me go over budget for the monitor. What is the most important thing for my needs. I like the barebones setup at Monarch plus they give you free stuff, is that a good idea? I'm really unsure of building from scratch.

Thanks to the moderator for getting me back in.

If I can keep it around $1000 I could score a couple of hundred more for the monitor.
I like your suggestion but since this will be my last system (unless I hit the progressive slots jackpot at Stations Casinos) I was thinking PCI E so I can keep upgrading for a few years. Do you think 2 gig of ram will be better for watching MLB.com and simming baseball games at the same time or is there another direction to go? What about power supplies and coolers?

I have decided to do this $400 at a time every 2-3 weeks.my budget will be around $700 without vid card or Lcd. I want the system to be dual core ready (multitasking),so I know the case and power supply are important. I will attempt to oc for the first time. So where should I start? What order should I purchase? I'll order this weekend, I like:

Thermaltake Kandalf case
Dfi lan party or Asus nforce4 no sli mobo
3000+ winchester
Not sure about anything else I need stuff fairly easy to install including a dual layer dvd.

Eventually I will get 6800gt and either a 17 or 19 inch lcd with low response time. I appreciate any and every response.

If you can put off the CPU until last, you'd have the best chance of actually getting a dual core initially. I really have no idea when they're coming out though. I haven't been keeping track.

What kind of programs are you running that you want 4 gigs of ram for? :Q

2 gigs is overkill for almost everyone.

They're pretty close in what they offer. The main difference is the powersupply in the Sonata.

Other differences are outside appearance (Sonata is sexier ), and the harddrive cage area.

Will I need at least 500w psu with those new dual cpus? Antec does have new cases coming out with 500w psu I will call them tommorow to find out when they will be available.

I will buying mem slowly. 1gig every 3 months.

How about the mobo any thoughts? I have wanted the dfi for a while but I read that the dual cores ran well without bios update on the Asus

Dude go with a CRT monitor....much better for gaming. Take the money you saved on the CRT rather then a LCD and spend it on your video card or processor.

I will probably have to do that because I think the dual core processor is a higher priority.
