As the title asks, does anyone recommend an "inexpensive" deep fryer? I'm looking for one that is ~$100.00 US. Thanks in advance!

I miss my Fry Daddy
Having said that, they suck at maintaining the temp when a large amount of cold food is added.

Cast iron pan or dutch oven, peanut oil, and a thermometer.

get one of the ones with a top that closes if you don't want your whole place to smell like fried foods for a day, also might want to invest in a lipitor prescription when your cholesterol goes through the roof.

This is above your price range, but you may be able to find it cheaper if you shop around. There is also those 20% off coupons that Bed Bath and Beyond mails out all of the time which would bring the price down to $120. I just got this fryer a few months ago and it is amazing. The automatic filtering and storage of the oil is extremely cool.

Only if you're cooking with worthless oils. Canola, Sesame and Peanut oils are the best for deep frying. High smoke point and the fats you get from them will actually work to reduce cholesterol. They're just not that cheap so places like McD's is no doubt using the safflower and cottenseed crap.
