Top Gun appeals to our sense of pride and other more mutable traits in the presence of intellect.

I am not afraid of my instincts and my desire to watch a 'blockbuster ' now and then.

It isn't an epic film like 'life is beautiful' but it is a respected film for its entertainment factor.

Yes it is, and we didn't even begin to have a clue as to how whacko Tommy is back then. I have NEVER liked this movie. It has always been a cheesy over the top piece of Hollywood crap in my book.

You know, many of us just saw a bunch of guys playing volleyball in that scene. However, what people like you take from a scene like that is another matter it seems. As George Costanza once said after getting a massage from a man... "I think it moved", well, maybe that sums up what happened to you during that scene in Top Gun. And that is sad.

Aye, but but on the otherhand, this was an 80s movie, and as arrogant as anything made in that decade. I never found it to be homosexual. Being secure in my manhood, I jsut found it cocky and arrogant, just as fighter pilots should be

It might not fare well with you. If you judge it by todays standards it is merely an old blockbuster that is almsot irrelevant in our times.

The amount of arrogance, cockyness, and machoism, as you can see by previous posts, is now interpreted by many as homosexual, and they fail to appreciate the sentiment of brotherhood that the director went for, however crude you may think it was.


Honestly, I've seen it a billion times as a kid, and have always loved it. The comradery, and the basicness of the plot but the importance of the lesson, however simple and obvious, always striked a chord with me.

TG was a good movie, even it is 20 years old. Decent story, nice action sequences <for its time>, good soundtrack music.

The only thing that I don't like is the MiGs are not really MiGs, they are F-5 jets.
