Does Android have any type of support for color spaces other than sRGB, such as AdobeRGB? Or does it just assume everything is sRGB? Would it be possible to create an app that is aware of the different color spaces and can either display them properly or, more likely, automatically convert any non-sRGB photos to sRGB?
The reason I ask is because I recently got a SGS4 and I heard about the "AdobeRGB" screen mode, which was renamed to "Professional Photo" before release. I tried to display some aRGB photos I found on the internet that I also converted to sRGB using GIMP to see if it was supported. The aRGB photos looked duller compared to the sRGB ones, so I'm assuming that at least the Samsung gallery app isn't color space aware. I have a feeling there isn't aRGB support, and that's why they renamed the screen mode.
It's such a shame to have a screen capable of being used to display images in the aRGB gamut, but not being able to make use of it.
