I can confirm that Bill "Epoman" Halcomb passed away March 2, 2007 in his sleep. I've spoken to his wife a few times and have a copy of his death certificate (which I had to send to his web host).

Since his passing I have volunteered to help keep the "IHD" family of sites up and running. Bill and I actually had a few discussions about what would happen in the event of his untimely death. Obviously no one saw this coming and I assumed he would be with us for decades to come.

My only regret is that I didn't get to meet such an extraordinary person.

If anyone would like to offer financial support to his family, Bill's wife has access to his Paypal account.

RIP Epoman, you will be missed and I will never forget

2/13/2008 Update http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=7031.0

I am sorry to have to share this news with our family here at IHD. As most of you are aware Goofynina (Susie) went in to surgery on or around January 21st to have calcium deposits removed from her stomach area. The intended surgery was a success but unfortunately Susie developed an infection which was first thought to be peritonitis due to the fact that Susie does PD, this was later considered to be false and the Doctors are unable to find the source of her infection. The infection is causing her severe pain that is almost unmanageable leaving the Doctors with no other recourse but to send Susie home and offer hospice care. I talked with Susie's husband Sam this morning and learned that they are considering a two week window of which morphine is being administered to keep the pain to a minimum.

I will update when I learn more. I am trying to give her immediate family space and time to visit.

Sluff

UPDATE Noon FEB 13th
I heard from John (Susie's Brother-in-law) Susie has taken a turn for the worst and may not make it through the evening. Last night the family was there and she was alert for a very short time after doing dialysis. She has not been coherent except during that brief moment.

From what I remember, he had a high fever and couldn't be prescribed any drugs to his dialysis/kidney failure. Basically his immune system totally shut down.

In his bio...... he does not know what causes it:

(08/13/05)
I have been on dialysis for over 11 years as of this writing. Why my kidneys failed is a mystery, my kidneys just shrunk. I was 21 years old at the time. The doctors told me I most likely needed dialysis years ago, since my labs were so high. The doctors told me that my body was very strong and it just kept adapting. My only symptoms were that for about a year before I finally went to the hospital I would vomit every morning and would not be able to eat until the afternoon (I thought maybe I had an ulcer), plus I would be very lazy or tired all the time. The final straw that made me really worry was that I was at work and I almost passed out. Later the doctors would tell me that was my body about to go into a coma, and that they were really surprised that I drove myself to the hospital. On my very first Dialysis (at the hospital) I passed out a few times, my body was in shock. The next morning I had woken up and felt something I had forgotten what it felt like.... I was hungry.

Cheers,
Aquaman
