Q6600 best price

So far $199 is the best price I can find for this cpu.. Can this be had cheaper?

Only if fry's or microcenter offer it for cheaper. Generally those were one shot deals. Do you really need it? And how soon do you want it? Cheaper prices on some chips are around the corner depending on how much speed you need.

Well I don't plan to buy until the new Nvidia cards are release, which is a few weeks, but if there is a sale I will jump on it

Cheapest retail Q6600 I've seen lately is ~$215, cheapest OEM I've seen is ~$200. These are the current prices at Newegg too.

If you are thinking of overclocking I highly recommend getting the OEM and using the $15 savings towards an after-market HSF.

Sunbeamtech Core-Contact Freezer is ranked the best but good luck finding one in stock anywhere. The second best-rated is the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 which can be found (quite inexpensively IMO) at Newegg for $37 w/free shipping.

If you live anywhere near a Microcenter, MC still is selling the retail boxed Q6600 for $199 all day long. Fry's may match them.......then again, Fry's has sales all the durned time on cpu/motherboard combos, of which you can dump the ECS bundled mb on ebay and get the processor price waaaay down.

picked up a retail box from Fry's last month for $179 but the last 2 weeks $199 is the best i could find as well. . . .eBay has some for ~$190 G0 stepping

I got an oem from microcenter online for $179. I have to pay sales tax there, however, so I ended up paying $201 after tax/shipping...:frown: still, that's not too shabby!
