Hey guys,

I decided to go with a Q6600. I figured that with the price at $279 or less you can beat this deal.

I would like to overclock this setup slightly. The video card will be very minimal since I do not play games. So with that said will this setup be ok for a decent overclock?

Q6600
Abit IP 35-E
OCZ 2GB Reaper Memory ( OCZ2RPR8002GK )
Antec True 430Watt Power Supply

First will the above be o.k for overclocking? I don't want to break any records, but I would like to get to 3.0ghz. 2nd, should I get a 3rd party Heatsink and fan, or will the Intel provided heatsink/fan be ok? And last, will 430Watts be ok? I am powering the above along with 2 SATA drives, and a DVDROM.

430 watts is more than enough even with an 8800GTX. All your parts are fine for overclocking although I would highly recommend an aftermarket heatsink.

Avoid OCZ RAMs. Most will not POST unless you can manually set memory voltage in BIOS to 2.1V. The $15 AR 1GB HP/Crucial 1.8V DDR2 667 (Hot Deals forum) will take your CPU to 3.0GHz with default RAM speed. If you bump RAm voltage to 2.0 and set timing to 5-5-5-15-2T, then you can overclock a good chip up to about 3.6GHz. Core speed is KING. You will also be able to boot four sticks at default BIOS settings. There are posts about the inability to POST with Antec True. Give it a try. I would recommend the Antec Earthwatts 500 (available at Staples, Frys, MWAVE, etc).

Stock cooler is good enough for 3.0GHz speed.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I am purchasing all of this from Mwave, it ends up being a little cheaper.

Any suggestions on a good, but not to expensive aftermarket fan/heatsink?

NewEgg will often put the open box Big Typhoon on sale for $18 plus $6 shipping. I would avoid any push-pin CPU cooler.

Yeah, I've had nothing but trouble with the push pin HSFs. I installed a cheapo Cooler Master TX2 in a computer, and two of the pins came loose once. No thanks.
