Q6600 stuck at stock speed

I had my Q6600 overclocked to 3.2 and when I restarted my computer this morning it went back to stock speed(2.4)
I tried to get it back up but now no matter what value I put in for the speed it is stuck at 2.4
but when I go in to bios it is the number I put in it.
Why would this happen? can how could I fix it??

What motherboard do you have ? One irritating trait of the gigabyte BIOS, is that if an overclock fails, and it reverts to stock setting, you have to change the field that allows overclocking every time, and the memory multiplier, and the PCI speed. If that doesn't fix it, please post all the details, motherboard model, and setting.

I do have Gigabyte mobo

my specs are
Q6600 G0
Gigabyte P35-DS3P
EVGA geForce 8800GT
4*1 Gig Crucial ballistix Tracer

what do you mean by "have to change the field that allows overclocking every time"
which settings are you talking about?

make sure CIA2, C1E and EIST is disabled.

I tried to clear CMOS and OC again but still stuck at stock
