Q6600 temp too high on TRUE-120?

I haven't OC'ed or anything yet and the idle temp is at 44-45 degrees celcius in bios. I thought the temp was too high so I unmounted the TRUE-120, cleaned off the thermal paste with alcohol, and did everything again. Idle temp is still 44-45. Is this too high for a TRUE-120?

your q6600 a b3 or g0? whats the base of your True look like, a calm lake at dusk or ruffles with ridges?

Dude, dont bother with bios readings. Install windows and use software readings.

Bios sensors are ALWAYS over calibrated so that the motherboard thermal features (such as fan speed up), kick in sooner rather than later. My CPU in the bios sits at 40C, in windows its 33C.

I have a G0 and the TRUE-120 isn't lapped and is stock (it isn't 100% smooth). As for room temp, it's about 70-75 degrees with the window open and cold air coming in. But right now, the mobo, cpu, ram, and vid card are outside of the case. I was flashing the bios after setup so I'm making sure everything is working okay.

Ah, that might be a factor. I haven't installed OS yet but I'll report back once I do.

*Edit - Uh, okay. I just flashed the bios and now the temp is idling at 26-27C which seems right. I guess the old bios was REALLY off?

Yep, and this one might be off too.

You wont know your real temperature until you install windows and use software to read Tcase and TJunction temperatures.

any temps u report to us now won't be useful until you have your setup in a case and reading LOADED temps. idle temps don't really matter unless they're 60+ then u have a problem @ idle.

Mine's using the OEM Intel HSF and it runs cooler than that. I have a G0 chip...is that what you're running?

My temp at idle 38-39* C and while doing image or video editing it will get to the mid 50s. Clcoking at 3.2Ghz
