Ultra has 4 heatpipes. The ultra extreme has 6 heatpipes.

note - people who have experienced both quad/dual core C2Ds. Is the quad core machine more "productive" and "responsive" overall than the dual core in day to day activities on the PC?

Not that I have noticed, but I got my quads for F@H (distributed computing)

I purchased my QX6700 back in Nov of 06....so I think I got a jump on quite a few of you....

I was successfully able to run 3.33ghz on air with my DS3 mobo but 4 instances of F@H would result in 70-75c.....this was with just a NInja revB with aftermarket Antec TriCool fan....

I placed that item on my Asus P5b-deluxe mobo with same heatsink and was able to get similar results.....

i then got my hands on the Coolit Freezone.....It is able to keep my chip under those temps all the way up to 3.5ghz.....at 3.5ghz I only see like 65-68c with more voltage....

When I run it at daily operations I run it at what is listed in my sig (except I run 8x400 now)....With 4 cores of F@H I see low 50's with mid 50's at the highest.

I am waiting for the Penryn next. No point going any faster as most of my apps wont use all 100% of the cores now. I am either limited extremely by HDDs or DVD-roms.......the only thing i like about it is I can due to my CAD renderings and be shrinking a DVD with minimal slowdown if I was doing them each individually on my old C2D's machines....
