Q8200 + ECS GF7050VT-M = $199 at Frys

In our local Frys ad they are selling a Q8200 and ECS GF7050VT-M combo for $199.99.

I don't know how that compares to the Q6600 deal they had this last Monday, but the processor goes for $229 on the Egg just by itself.

Not nearly as good as the Q6600 deal they had... the Q6600 is a better processor. The Q8xxx series has less cache, lacks the VT and TET stuff, but gives you a faster FSB from what I recall. Dollar for dollar, the Q6600 is the better CPU, and at the $149 Fry's deal last week it smokes this deal.

With that said, if you're in the market for a good quad and don't care so much about the added features, this would be a pretty decent deal.

Thanks for your input on the deal, honestly.

I'm not much of an overclocker myself, so when it comes to how valuable processors are based on that, I'm not too much in the know.

I'm just hoping for another E8400/E500 combo deal this weekend.

They have an E7300 combo for $119.99, but I don't feel it would be enough of an upgrade from my E4500 to justify the cost.

yeah this board isn't that great either.

i think the q6600 deal came with the G31 board that they bundle sometimes, which is an actual worthwhile board.

Ok is this a tray or box CPU? if its tray then I would say its a so and so deal but if its boxed CPU I would get it just to see what the thing can do
