Q9300 at 3.30ghz

It seems like I can never get my Q9300 system stable at anything above factory speeds. I finally got it in windows a while back and used it for a while at 3.30ghz but it was never real stable.

I would like to get my system to run at anything over 3ghz and be stable and I'd be happy.

I don't think temp was a problem when I had it at 3.3ghz according to hmonitor anyways.

My ram is ddr2 800mhz.

I noticed the q9300 never got popular like a lot of the q's did, but is there a certain speed a lot of guys overclock them too?

3.4 was my max on that.

3.2-3.4 is reasonable with a high end heatpipe cooler and a lot of BIOS tweaking. The components in your sig should certainly be able to do this. Check the overclocking stickies for details. Shoot for ~1.30 volts and <70 degrees C; past 1.35v and you're getting risky.

Thanks for the reply. I'm running at 52c according to realtemp at 2.85ghz. I'm gonna attempt to kick it up. I will reply to this with specs.

I tried to go higher. It boots at 3.30ghz and 1.33v but when it tries to load windows it says hardware or software has changed and something about kernel missing or changed. I tried 2.91 but it keeps rebooting. I tried messing with voltage and never got anything stable.
