swtethan you can add my X3230 ES G0. Its 6h prime stable all 4 cores stopped by me.

3.6 ghz @ 1.45v real (1.40v droop during small 8K prime load)
evga 680i A1
water cooling

Also, will you please change aigomorla's Q6600 ES already. Its not 4 ghz stable with 1.48v, he made a post after I pointed it out and he corrected his values, but you never updated the chart. Change that entry please, its not possible to have 4 ghz prime stable with 1.48v, maybe one day with yorkfield, but not today.

if not, please dont be offended but I would definetely like to see some idle and load screenshots with core temp/everest/whatever you use, just for my own information cause it will help me when I start overclocking my G0. also give me details on the cooling you are using to achieve that overclock.

no the op messed up once again. LOL.

i gave up after this third time.

The voltage according to my ASUS ProbeII vCore reads 1.51V

On bios its set at 1.55V.

idle temps was seen at 33C across all 4 cores. Load temps in the mid 60's during the day, and lower 60's - upper 50's at night.

And b4 anyone reading this gets smart and tries to mimic my voltage settings:

This is whats required to overclock ANY Quadcore @ 1.5+Vcore I dont care if you have a G0 or a B3.

http://i125.photobucket.com/al...aigomorla/IMG_0721.jpg

Actually a MCR320, if you cant afford a PA120.3 and a D5 or a DDC-3.2 on a ApogeeGTX waterblock.

NO GFX added in the same loop. the GFX loop is in blue, the Board/CPU loop in red.

lol swtethan, why did you delete his chip dude. his post is on page 6, add his ES chip to the chart but make it right this time.

edit
also try to keep chips from the same users together. squeeze my 2 chips together please.

Well, I have an X3210 G0 coming. No ship date yet, but within a week.

Voltage is from cpu-z while under 100% load. 1.284v reported at idle.

Orthos x2 stable for ~18 hours before I had better things to do than stress test.

Just got this working.

3.6GHz (8x450) @ 1.424V~1.456V (vdroop and actual)
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P
4GB (2x2GB) Patriot Extreme Performance 5-5-5-15
Ninja Plus Rev.B

The CPU and the Ninja are both lapped.

Ok here is my first little test. Using two instances of Orthos:
http://www.loneclone.de/downloads/corestresstest.jpg

Man am I happy right now:
Core #0: 43°C Celsius
Core #1: 43°C Celsius
Core #2: 37°C Celsius
Core #3: 39°C Celsius

That's cooler than my P4 3.2 ghz on IDLE temperature!!! And the whole built is a lot more silent. Muahaha
The question now is: What can I expect when starting to overclock? I still don't have a water temperature sensor so I don't know if getting the CPU to 50+ °C will result in a water temperature of 50°C so I will wait till I have some water sensoring equipment.
But man this CPU feels like it flies!
I could still do image editing and other stuff whilst the two instances of Orthos stressed the CPU to 100% it still felt very responsive.

frythecpuofbender, thats not overclocked, and this is a overclock thread. I assume you will be doing that ?

Yeah, I'm doing Prime95 25.4 Small FFTs right now and the system is still far smoother than any other desktop system I've used.

I've upped the voltage by about 0.025V. I got an error for one of the cores at the 23 minute mark. (I could probably Large FFTs indefinitely XD).

@swtethan
What's considered stable? The Hardforum standard seems to be 4 hours of Small FFTs.

Of course. Otherwise I wouldn't have brought freakin water into my case. Still frightened by the prospect. But I want to get to 3.2 Ghz as a start. Dunno how much further the memory will take me. Doing some hours of Orthos now first.

I'd try and drag AigoMorla into this, because -- and I'm recalling from a memory that seems to become less effective with time -- that he had posted some results with his very elaborate water-cooling system showing that a 50% over-clock raised the CPU temperatures to 50C anyway. Since my air-cooled rig with a 33% OC-setting has the TCase temperature in the low to mid-50's, I'm inclined to think the numbers he reported were the individual TJunction "core" temperatures.

Don't want to put words in the mouths of others, but I assumed from the OP and originator that the purpose of this thread was to to obtain a profile of C2Q processors. That would allow us to graph distributions of VCORE settings against speed settings.

Just by way of comparison, these "stock setting" results are nevertheless useful. For instance, on the temperature angle, I can report that my air-cooled system shows the hottest core at 52C with a room ambient around 74F. Without invoking the superlative, I doubt anyone whose familiar with my posts would contend my statement that I "have a very efficient air-cooled solution" with my rig. I have the B3 stepping, and I see that yours is G0.

But that data -- such as you report -- I find -- personally -- of some use. Even so --

. . . . we'd like to see your best OC results with information like "stepping -- B3 or G0?," temperatures, VCORE and any other voltage settings, etc.

Some of the G0's are quite nice. The G0 I'm stressing right now at 3.6GHz ran at a cool 3GHz with the stock cooler on stock voltages (VID 1.2750V) =D

Got it stable now.

Ok now here is my first little water cooling warming up OC with 9x333Mhz=3Ghz:
Temps stable at 49°C,49°C,43°C,44°C
http://www.loneclone.de/downloads/q6600_OC3ghz.jpg
Are these good temps for ambient 22°C?

I got some info from the Mushkin forums how to setup my 2x2GB Mushkin HP2 6400
kit for OC on the P5K so I am now at a stable: 400Mhz, 2T, 5-4-4-12 and FSBRAM=5:6
Is this FSBRAM ratio thing overrated or should I clock the Mushkin at 333Mhz with tighter timings and be happy with 1:1?

I'm a little unsure what my next steps should be?
Try the same thing with lower voltage? Go higher? I have no water temperature monitoring ability and I'm a little hesitant to go overboard. Is there a limit for a normal water setup? Is water temperature normally way below the core temp? Let's say -10°C? Don't have a clue unfortunately.

Current step now is 8x400MHz=3.2Ghz (CoreTemp seems to have a bug, reports 3.6GHz, 450x8)
http://www.loneclone.de/downloads/q6600_OC3,2ghz.jpg
CoreTemps stable at 53°C,53°C,47°C,47°C (PC Probe reports 42°C)
Memory timings are the same as above. FSB-DRAM ratio now is 1:1.
CPU-Z reports Voltage is now at 1.352v-1.360v

Is it safe to try further (9x400Mhz) with every voltage setting still on "auto" mode?
Should I try lowering voltage first?

UPDATE: Ok tried 9x400MHz=3.6GHz with voltage still on auto. Post works, XP booting works. Playing around and doing lot's of things works, but Orthos has an error on two cores after a minute.

Tried setting the cpu voltage manually to 1.3-1.375 and didn't help, wouldn't boot.
Now I'd have to raise the voltage past the specs for q6600 G0 (1.372v) and I don't feel I should do it. Temps seem superb at 3.2GHz (53°C on load in Coretemp, 42°C in PCProbe) but I think I play chicken and stop here.

swtethan can you update my overclock please. after the vdroop mod this board has become a beast, and I no longer need to set the voltage at 1.5 in the bios to get 1.45 in windows, and 1.40 at load. now I have reverse vdroop! if you have a reference 680i, DO THE MOD!

http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2087275&enterthread=y

new specs:
3.6Ghz w/ 1.40 set in bios (1.38v idle, 1.40 load in windows)
evga 680i vdroop modded
