Is there even a power supply commercially available to power these badboys?

Talk about an energy crisis!

If you use that dual gpu 7800 card with the external power connection, then there is no need for a large wattage power supply, unless of course you also had multiple dual-core processors. Of course, that would make it so your pc has 4 more power connections to plug in.

In the THG summary, it says the board has 4 DDR2 slots, but that has to be only on the P4 version, right? Since AMD's memory controller is on the CPU and only supports DDR1 at this time...

Not sure if 4x7800GTX could handle this:

Battlefield 2-64 player, or FEAR if you really want to kill it
2048x1536 16xAF Combined 16xS(2x2 SS + 4x RGMS) (Rotated Grid Multisampling) (use nHancer to enable on 6xxx+ cards)
All optimizations off, mipmap=High Quality, VSync on, triple buffering enabled

*drool* 96 pixel pipeline goodness

Pair all of this with a perfectly-calibrated DLP monitor/TV and you've got a dream setup. At least until SEDs make their way to market. Don't forget water cooling. You don't want the physically biggest monitor possible. Get a monitor that can show that resolution at 20" or so, then you'll have a damn fine image with no discernable pixel coarseness.

It's worth note on BF2 at mostly high settings, 1280x1024 and 16xAF/16xS I get about 5 FPS on a Geforce 6800. Here's a screenshot of that. Stunning AA, isn't it? http://home.comcast.net/~asmatte/4xrgms.png

Nope, not stunning. Anyway, not a bad screenshot, but certainly isn't stunning.

That board is intended for professinal design (Quadros)

While you could use it for gaming, youd be so CPU limited that you wouldnt likely gain much from 3/4 cards.

Edit: Shens, 1 antec PSU to power it?

QFT. My 6600GT can make it look the same at 8xS AA.

Take a screenshot. 16xS will still look better, for diminishing returns or not, it's going to stress the 7800GTX 4-way SLI quite a bit.

I don't have battlefeild 2, but I will get a half-life 2 screenshot up soon.

its only booting up.....i bet as soon as anything 3D happens, there is a bright flash and a bang.

anyway i bet PC Power and coolings new 1000watt PSU (thats 1100watt peak, 1000watts continuous power, with simply insane amperage on the 12 rails, it was defo over 50amp total) would be able to handle this.

Whats with this 1000W PSU crap. Stop and think for a second. The GTX uses about 70-80W. A system with 1 GTX uses <300W at full load. 80Wx3=240W. Thats 540W. A 600W PSU should be able to handle this easy. If youre not so sure, fine 700W. But 1000W? Be serious.

*Quietly waits for Gigabyte to release a double-gpu 7800GTX*...

Anyone w/ 4 monitors could probably get away with a WQUXGA resolution, or 36x24 (I think) with a setup like that (w/ theoretical dual-gpu 7800GTX's)... So who needs antialiasing after that then?
