Hey all,
I'm considering buying a new HP Elitebook to replace my Macbook Pro that I had stolen (insurance covered it, I have plenty of money to spend). I'm currently looking at the 8540 line, which includes both the 8540w and 8540p. Both laptops are essentially the same, except that the "w" comes equipped with a Quadro FX 880m while the "p" comes with the Quadro NVS 5100m and costs about $70 less. According to Notebookcheck, both cards are based on the GT 330m, and the three sit right next to each other in Notebookcheck's GPU hierarchy. Sooo...I'm pretty confused as to which model to go with.
Anyway, the computer will be used mainly for 3D modeling and rendering, via programs like Solidworks and Rhino. Some photo work, some gaming here and there.
Any pointers?
Thanks!
