Hey anyone know what the real difference of the NVS Quadro line of cards is? I know there are some additional features for the FX Quadro line some 3D rendering apps can take advantage of but unsure about what sets the NVS Quadro line different from the consumer GeForce line.

From what I can get reading nVidia's site, it's mainly designed to support dual monitors. Given that most consumer level cards these days already have dual head output support, is there something else I'm missing that sets the NVS apart?

the main difference is the drivers which are specifically optimized for certain non-gaming software. the hardware is essentially the same.

Hardware basically the same.
The drivers now, basically the same.
There used to be a difference in how opengl was handled but thats pretty much a non issue now.

The main difference is support.
With the quadro card and drivers if an application doesn't work you can contact nvidia and they will help you resolve the issue.
With the 'gaming' cards your pretty much on your own, although the major software companies like autodesk still are good about supporting the 'gaming' cards.

example:
I have a 7900GTX 512MB card, that I use with dual monitors in 3dsmax and Maya. It works fine.

I wonder if that includes games. It would be pretty nice if you find a driver bug and they fix the issue for you in a few days.

Yeah that would be nice.
Its not part of the deal though
The support is only for professional applications or ones that paid to be quadro certified.

I think the quadro supports a few features ( like multiple overlay) that are useful in rendering - these are not supported by geForce cards. I'm not sure how they implement the support ( hardware or drivers) though.
